Senator Cory Gardner calls it a big win for Colorado. For years he's been touting Grand Junction as a site to be the headquarters for the Bureau of Land Management. Now, the Interior Department says it plans to move the BLM to Grand Junction.
But one environmental group says don't celebrate just yet. Aaron Weiss, with the Center for Western Priorities, says Congress has to approve the money needed for the move.
The announcement of the move blindsided the Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee and other democrat lawmakers. They already have a strained relationship with Interior Secretary David Bernhardt.
Weiss says the way Bernhardt has approached the move may make it hard to win approval from Congress.
