Feet of snow and freezing overnight conditions forced the closure of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park Friday. Windy conditions thwarted attempts to re-open the road Sunday. Park spokesperson Kyle Patterson says plow operators reached Lava Cliffs Sunday, but winds loaded drifts up to five feet behind them. Due to conditions, they had to plow their way back down to Forest Canyon. It's not clear when the road will re-open.
