Hancock Wants New Department of Transportation and Infrastructure

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is asking the city council to place a measure on the November ballot that would create a new city department, The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.

hancock says "This new department will more effectively deliver transportation and mobility improvements to the people of Denver, and solidifies our commitment to providing a safe, affordable, equitable, convenient and seamless mobility networks citywide."

The new department will be allowed to explore the possibility of a city transit system run either in partnership with RTD or operated by the city itself or with another transportation operator.

Establishing the new department requires a change in the City Charter that must ben approved by Denver voters.
