A celebration of life service was held for State Trooper, Corporal Daniel Groves, at Longmont's Life Bridge Church on Thursday,
The 52-year-old trooper was helping a motorist on I-76 when he was struck and killed by another car.
Groves was praised by Governor Jared Polis and State Patrol Chief Matthew Packard as a man who loved his job and was dedicated to serving others.
Groves joined the State Patrol 12 years ago after working in technology for several years in Chicago. Serving in the State Patrol was his dream job even though he took a large pay cut to do so.
