Roof Avalanche Kills One In Crested Butte

A man is dead after being buried in snow while trying to clear the roof of a Crested Butte restaurant. Officials in Gunnison County say two men were trying to clear the roof of Tully's restaurant Saturday when they slid off in what's being called an urban avalanche. One of the men was buried under three feet of snow and did not survive. The Crested Butte Fire Protection District urged anyone clearing a roof of snow to help prevent more deaths and injuries by having a safety system in place and working in teams.
