GOP Slows Down Business in the State Senate

The Republican minority in the Colorado Senate slowed down the legislative process to protest what it says is a Democrat majority fast tracking bills through the statehouse. The GOP asked that a 2,000 page bill be read out loud, a process that could take hours. At first the Senate bill reader gave it a game effort. Then, Democrats brought out a laptop and used Google reader to read the bill. Even at 650 words a minute, it would still take hours.

Republicans say they used the tactic because Senate rules do not allow for a filibuster and they can't just walkout of the chamber.
