"Ashes to Go" comes to Northglenn

Two churches in Northglenn are bringing church outside as part of the "Ashes to Go" movement. Ashes will be distributed on Ash Wednesday from 6 am to 7:30 am at the Wagon Road Park-n-Ride, 120th and Huron, and from 11 am until 11:45 am at E-B Rains Memorial Park at 117th and Community Center Drive. The effort is the work of the Church of the Beloved, an Ecumenical Catholic Community, and the Northglenn United Church of Christ. Church of the Beloved pastor Reverend Kae Madden says its an effort to take church to the people. Madden believes Lent is a perfect time to pause and reflect on adjustments that might be needed in life to better live as a faithful person. Ashes distributed on Ash Wednesday are made from the leaves left over from a previous Palm Sunday. They are burned one year and distributed the next and applied to the forehead--in the form of a cross--as a way to begin Lent.
