Colorado towns and counties will be allowed to keep using red light cameras at traffic intersections. The bill that would have forced each town to put the cameras up for a public vote failed in the House Transportation and Local Government Committee today. Several law enforcement officials testified that the cameras increase safety and help officers who don't have the time to monitor every intersection. Supporters of the bill say there are other ways to make intersections safer such as increasing the time of the yellow light. However, the bill was postponed indefinitely.
