Talks Break Down Again Between DPS And Teachers Union

The union representing Denver's teachers says it has rejected the latest contract offer made by Denver Public Schools. KUSA-TV reports that the two sides met last night, with DPS offering about three-million-dollars more toward teacher salaries by cutting jobs at the central office. Representatives for the Denver Classroom Teachers Association called last night's meeting a waste of time, saying DPS was not taking the negotiations seriously. Members of the teachers union have already voted in favor of a strike but are waiting to see if the state plans to intervene in the contract negotiations.
