Former Congressman Mike Coffman has pulled the papers needed to run for mayor of Aurora.
In a statement Coffman says " I'm running because I know that I can bring my leadership, experience and knowledge to the City of Aurora to address the challenges of affordable housing, transportation and public safety."
Coffman goes on to say "This is a city facing great challenges with tremendous opportunities. I have seen it grow from a small military town to one of the most diverse and dynamic communities in the Unites States and I'm very excited about the opportunity to shape its future."
Coffman grew up in Aurora and wentt to Aurora Public Schools. He represented the city in Congress. Last year, he lost his reelection bid to democrat Jason Crow.
The election is set for November 12th.
