Teachers Union Responds To DPS Request

The union that represents Denver teachers is asking the state to butt out of contract negotiations with Denver Public Schools and let them strike.  Yesterday, the Denver Classroom Teachers Association asked the state Labor Department to reject a request to intervene filed by DPS.  The Labor Department will now decide whether to step in and will probably respond sometime in the next two weeks.  If they do intervene, teachers won't be allowed to strike for at least 180 days while negotiations are held.
