A woman who served for two yeas as treasurer for the Jefferson Academy Parent Teacher Organization is facing one count of theft, a class for felony, for allegedly stealing or misappropriating $58,000 of funds.
Jessica Kristina Tafoya, had access to PTO bank accounts and had debit cards on those accounts. It's alleged she made unauthorized ATM withdrawals, underpaid invoices and made transactions between the PTO accounts and her own personal accounts.
Tafoya is free on a $2,000 bound and is due in court later this week. Jefferson Academy is a K-12 charter school in Jefferson County.
