RTD Proposes Software Fix For A-Line Gate Problems

RTD says it has provided plans to the Federal Railroad Administration that will solve the crossing gate problems plaguing light rail trains.  The FRA threatened to shutdown the trains if RTD couldn't fix the problem.

The local transit authority says interference from downtown high rise buildings near Union Station has affected the GPS signal the train uses to communicate with crossing gates.

Approval of the proposed software fix, could pave the way for the G-Line to begin operating in 2019.

Since the A-Line's opening in 2016, there have been numerous instances of gates lowering too soon and staying down for too long.
