The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development is giving money to four Colorado communities to support affordable housing for non-elderly people with disabilities.
Boulder Housing Partners, Jefferson County Housing Authority, Grand Junction Housing Authority, and Housing Catalyst in Fort Collins are four of 98 recipients in the nation to receive funding.
"It's really opening doors for a lot of people in the community that need this support that are currently experiencing homelessness or transitioning out of a facility," said Traci McGraw, Director of Housing Assistance Programs at Housing Catalyst.
Fort Collins received the most funding with $326,776 to support 30 housing vouchers.
The housing authority will also get $104,000 in Extraordinary Administrative Fees.
"We're able to use these funds to provide navigation services to help with searching or obtaining homes," McGraw said.
While 30 vouchers may not seem like much, it sure is.
"Every fund is important," McGraw said. "With Housing Catalyst we are seeking to support our community in any way possible."
