Denver Adds Police Officers for Traffic Enforcement

The Denver Police Department is enhancing traffic enforcement by adding nine police officers to its traffic safety bureau. The city is trying to reach a goal of zero traffic deaths but already 54 people have died on Denver streets this year. Police Chief, Paul Pazen, says there are several factors linked to fatal crashes. They are speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, road rage and not wearing seat belts.

On Friday police ran a speed operation on West Colfax and Elliot just south of Empower Field at Mile High. KOA watched as five drivers were pulled over in the space of 15 minutes. All were going ten miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit.
