Broncos Fall to Packers 33-13 in Preseason

Packers won the toss and elected to receive

Jordan Love and the Packers started their first drive of the game from their own 37 yard line. Riley Moss broke up the first pass and on the very next play it looked like Pat Surtain stripped Christian Watson but the refs ruled him down. So instead of being Broncos ball, the Packers were now into Denver territory. Facing a 3rd and 5, Nik Bonitto was called for offsides but wasn't a 1st down. Facing a 4th and 1, Love hit Golden for a 19 yard completion. Green Bay worked down to the 10 yard line but a holding penalty backed them up to 1st and 20. Strnad was then called for DPI giving the Packers a new set of downs at the 18. Facing a 3rd and 3, Marshawn Lloyd caught a pass from Love for a 11 yard TD and an early 7-0 lead with 8:25 remaining in the 1st quarter. It was a 12 play drive. Riley Moss left the game with a rib injury and was questionable to return.

Bo Nix and the Broncos offense started from their own 35. RJ Harvey started at RB and gained 5 yards on his first carry. It appeared as though Sutton might've caught an impressive toe tap attempt along the sideline but the refs decided he didn't have it. On 3rd and 5, Nix hit Jaylen Waddle for a massive 35 yard strike to get deep into Packers territory. On 3rd and 6, Nix hit RJ Harvey on a wheel right down the right sideline for a 21yard touchdown to tie the game! 6 plays, 65 yards in 2:32.

Tyrod Taylor in the game now for Love and after an initial first down by Marshawn Lloyd, Taylor was facing a 3rd and 6 from the Packers 26 yard line. The Broncos brought 6 rushers and it was too much, Taylor threw it away, and the Packers were forced to punt. Offense took over at their own 40.

Jonah Coleman gained 5 yards on his first carry of the game. Nix hit Trautman for a short gain to get the Broncos into a 3rd and 1 and Adam Prentice easily picked it up with a gain of 5 into Green Bay territory. Nix hit Lil'Jordan Humphrey along the left sideline for a 14 yard reception as the Broncos continued their march into scoring territory. Facing a 3rd and 18 as we began the 2nd quarter, Davis Webb opted to gain as many yards as he could with a Jonah Coleman draw for 5 yards. Wil Lutz converted a 53 yard field goal to take their first lead of the game 10-7 with 14:07 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Pierre Strong had a massive 68 yard Kick Off return giving Green Bay terrific field position at the Denver 32 yard line but they couldn't do much with it and would settle for a 51 yard FG, tying the game at 10 with 12:04 remaining in the 1st half.

Kolbe Katsis had a nice Kick off return for 40 yards to get the Broncos near midfield but unfortunately the offense couldn't do much with the opportunity. Facing a 3rd and 14, Jarrett Stidham gained 6 yards and the Broncos were forced to punt. GB took over at their own 22 yard line with 9:57 remaining in the 1st half.

Facing a 3rd and 8, Kris Abrams Draine was called for DPI and the Packers gained a new set of downs at their own 48 yard line. Packers started imposing their will on the ground with Pierre Strong gaining decent chunks of yards into Denver territory. On 3rd and 3, Que Robinson was called for an obnoxiously weak roughing the passing call. Packers worked into a goal to go situation at the 3 yard line. Facing a 3rd and goal from the 2 yard line, somehow Will Sheppard got both feet down on the left sideline for a touchdown. Packers go back in front 17-10 with 3:07 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Dane Key caught a 25 yard pass to get the Broncos offense into Packers territory. Facing a 4th and 4 from the GB 40, Stidham attempted a deep pass down the right sideline toward Lil'Jordan Humphrey and, even though there was contact, no whistle and the Broncos turned the ball over on downs.

Packers work into Denver territory but would settle for a 59 yard field goal, extending the lead 20-10.

Jarrett Stidham threw an INT to Mark Perry over the middle on the first play of the Broncos next drive and it would lead to an easy 43 yard FG at the buzzer. Packers took a 23-10 lead into the locker room.

Starting the 3rd quarter from their own 27 yard line, Stidham still in at QB, was able to find Lil' Jordan Humphrey for an 18 yard pickup to midfield but the drive would stall and the Broncos would punt it back to Green Bay, who would start their next drive from their 11 yard line. Packers were able to gain a couple of 1st downs but on 3rd and 11, Que Robinson bull rushed from the left side and sacked McCord for a 10 yard loss. Packers punted it back to Denver who would start from their own 33 yard line.

Facing a 3rd and 11, Stidham hit Cameron Ross for a 12 yard completion to keep the drive alive. On 4th and 4, Stidham scrambled for 6 to keep the drive alive but eventually they would stall. Lutz converted a 38 yard field goal to pull the Broncos within 10, 23-13.

Wil Lutz kicked out of bounds giving the Packers great field position at the 40 and then Isaiah Neyor caught a 27 yard reception into Denver territory. Packers worked down inside the 10 yard line with a 16 yard run by Nixon. Jaden Nixon would eventually punch it in from 3 yards out, extending the lead 30-13 with 12:31 remaining in the game.

Sam Ehlinger in at QB and, after a couple of first downs, he was facing a 3rd and 13 and was sacked by Anthony Campbell after rookie Center Gavin Ortega lost his rep. Broncos punt, Green Bay starts from their own 21 yard line with 8:09 remaining in the game.

Green Bay would make a 38 yard field goal before the end of the game and would end up beating the Broncos 33-13.
