Well the easy answer is a resounding YES.
You think of their legendary albums such as Help (AROD's favorite), Abbey Road, Revolver, Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, White Album, etc. and you think of the cultural impact the band had on the world of music and really the world as a whole.
I grew up on The Beatles. Definition of a super fan. Sang Help in my third grade talent show. But recently I "Got Back" into The Beatles in a big way after cruising with NCL where they have recreated/reimagined the legendary "Cavern Club." Yes, the spot in Liverpool where The Beatles began their journey to stardom. And after enjoying four totally different shows that took us on a journey through their eras, I was re-hooked.
So naturally, when we got home from the cruise it was hardcore Beatles all the time. Watched the anthology, their films and re-listened to their ENTIRE catalog. I also of course then ranked all their albums. Here's that ranking:
- Help
- Abbey Road
- Sgt. Pepper
- Magical Mystery Tour
- Rubber Soul
- Revolver
- White Album
- Let It Be
- Hard Day’s Night
- Beatles for Sale
- With the Beatles
- Yellow Submarine
- Please Please Me
I know that so many people not only debate those albums, but also debate whether or not The Beatles are the best band of all time. People mention Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and even The Monkees.
But to me, there is no debate.
BY THE NUMBERS:
20 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, which is of course the most ever by any artist. 34 Top-10 hits in the US. Spent a whopping and insane 59 WEEKS at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with albums. They sold 600 MILLION records worldwide. Again, the best selling act in the history of music.
BY THE INNOVATION:
The experimentation in the studio, the maneuvering through various genres and styles, the creative album art. John and Paul wrote some of the most different & beautiful songs of all time. The trends they created. Unmatched.
BY THE MANIA:
Beatlemania. One of the first and most dominant eras of fan hysteria. The endless amounts of clips of fans losing their minds, fainting, storming the streets to catch a glimpse of the group.
BY THE TIME:
All of this in just 7 years of recording The Beatles that we know and love. That much dominance in such a short period of time is and always will be incredibly impressive.
