The matchup is set.

The Colorado Avalanche will play the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Lightning defeated the New York Rangers, 2-1, in game six of the Eastern Conference Final on Saturday night. The win clinched the series, four games to two.

The Avs are making their first trip to the Stanley Cup Final since they won it all in the 2000-2001 season. The Avalanche will play for its third Stanley Cup, also winning it in 1995-1996, the franchise's first season in Denver after moving from Quebec.

The Lightning is trying to win its third consecutive championship.

The teams met twice during the regular season with Colorado winning both games.

On their first road trip of the season, the Avs defeated the Lightning in Florida, 4-3 in a shootout, on October 23. It was Colorado's fifth game of the year.

Then on February 10, Colorado defeated Tampa Bay, 3-2, at Ball Arena.
