The reigning NBA Most Valuable Player put up 38 points and 19 rebounds but all of that was not enough. The Denver Nuggets fell to the Minneota Timberwolves, 136-130, Friday night at Ball Arena.
The game was close throughout. The Timberwolves torched the Nuggets for 40 points in the first quarter but the Nuggets only trailed 40-35 after one period.
Denver was down five points at halftime and four points after three quarters.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 32 points and had nine rebounds. D'Angelo Russell added 24 points.
The Nuggets got 24 points and five rebounds from Aaron Gordon while Monte Morris had 23 points and six assists.
Minnesota hit 19-of-40 three-point attempts. Denver had 18 turnovers.
After the game, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said they have not ruled out the return of guard Jamal Murray this season. Murry tore an ACL on April 12, 2021 and Malone said the team has not shut him down at this point.
The Nuggets get back in action against the Los Angeles Lakers in L.A. on Sunday, April 3 at 1:30 p.m. MDT.
