Colorado Avalanche goalie Darcy Kuemper is on a roll.
Kuemper made 23 saves and recorded his second consecutive shutout and fifth overall this season to lead the Avalanche to a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night in southern California.
Kuemper got some help from his offense in the first period when Valeri Nichushkin scored at 6:36.
J.T. Compher added a goal in the final minute of the second period before Mikko Rantanen capped the scoring in the third.
The Kings simply could not get anything past Kuemper, who made a career-high 46 saves in the 3-0 win over Calgary on Sunday.
After the game, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said Gabriel Landeskog's knee surgery went well but there is no firm timetable yet on Landeskog's return.
The Avs head north to take on the San Jose Sharks on Friday, March 18. The puck will drop at 8:30 p.m. MDT.
Postgame comments from (in order) Avs forward J.T. Compher, goalie Darcy Kuemper and head coach Jared Bednar.
