This was certainly not how the Colorado Buffaloes wanted to end their season.
The Buffs turned in a less-than-stellar performance in the 76-68 loss to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in the first round of the NIT on Tuesday night at the CU Events Center.
The Bonnies jumped in front 10-2 but the Buffs overcame that and led 39-36 at halftime.
CU looked poised to pull away early in the second half. Tristan da Silva's two free throws with 17:05 to go gave the Buffs a 48-39 lead.
But St. Bonaventure responded with a 10-0 run and led 49-48.
Late, the game was tied at 68 after da Silva's free thrown with 2:16 to go. That would be the final point of the season for the Buffs. The Bonnies closed the game on an 8-0 run.
CU guard Keeshawn Bartelemy led the Buffs with 15 points, making 6-of-7 shots from the floor. Forward Evan Battey added 14 points.
Colorado closes out the season with a 21-12 record. That mark, however, included six home losses.
