It didn't take long for the Calgary Flames to end it.
Johnny Gaudreau put the game-winning goal past Colorado Avalanche goalie Pavel Francouz 37 seconds into overtime and gave the Flames a 4-3 win at Ball Arena on Saturday night.
On two occasions, Calgary struck quickly to erase an Avalanche lead.
After Avs captain Gabriel Landeskog scored his 30th goal of the year only 42 seconds into the game, Elias Lindhom tied it 1:47 later.
Then late in the first, Andre Burakovsky continued his recent hot play with a goal at the 18:18 mark.
But the Flames tied the game on Lindholm's second goal at 19:24.
Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar pulled starting goalie Darcy Kuemper early in the second period after allowing his third goal.
Nathan MacKinnon also scored a goal for the Avs. Nazme Kadri and Valeri Nichushkin each had a pair of assists.
The Avs start a three-game road trip at the New York Islanders on Monday, March 7 at 5 p.m. MST.
