There are games when the guys on the bench need to step forward.
The Denver Nuggets had that happen Sunday night in a 124-92 rout of the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Nuggets bench players did what they had to do and more, combining for 76 points and 28 of the team's 55 rebounds.
Oh yeah, they chipped in 13 assists and only committed six turnovers.
JaMychal Green led the Nuggets with 20 points and had 10 rebounds. DeMarcus Cousins added 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists as he continues to work into the rotation.
Denver jumped out to a 32-27 lead after one quarter and then pushed the advantage to 65-48 at halftime.
The Nuggets have won six straight games and eight of their last nine.
Denver will host Oklahoma City on Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. MST.
Postgame comments from (in order) Nuggets head coach Michael Malone, guard Bryn Forbes and forward JaMychal Green.
