Francouz, Avs Blank Ducks, 2-0

It was close. It was physical.

It was another win for the Colorado Avalanche.

And it was a historical win as well.

The Avs gutted out a hard-fought, 2-0 road win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Pavel Francouz started in net for Darcy Kuemper and turned in a terrific performance, turning away all 34 shots that came his way. It was the second shutout of his career.

It was also the first time in franchise history the Avs have recorded a shutout in back-to-back road games.

Avs defenseman Samuel Girard got Colorado on the scoreboard with a goal at 18:29 of the second period. Nazim Kadri added another one at with 1:09 to go in the game.

The game also featured an epic fight between Kurtis MacDermid of the Avs and the Dicks Nick Deslauriers in the first period.

Colorado has won nine of its last 10 games and 14 of 16.
