The Denver Broncos have not been mathematically eliminated from the playoff race.
But realistically, with a 7-8 record and only two regular season games left, the Broncos will be sitting home for the postseason for the sixth consecutive year.
Let the questions begin.
And they start with the future of head coach Vic Fangio and his staff.
In his weekly meeting with reporters on Monday, Fangio was asked whether or not he and his staff deserve to be back in 2022.
"Absolutely, just the direct short answer there—absolutely," Fangio said.
Fangio made it clear he would return without a contract extension. His deal is set to expire after the 2022 season.
While speculation swirls about his future, Fangio said he does not worry about whether or not he will be back for a fourth season as Broncos head coach.
"I don’t, and I know you think that’s a standard answer, but for a lot of reasons I do not worry about it. Those reasons are personal for me, but do I acknowledge that it’s certainly out there and could happen—absolutely. Do I worry about it? I absolutely do not worry about it for many, many reasons."
The Broncos will be in Los Angeles to take on the Chargers on Sunday.
