The Colorado Avalanche closed out its road trip in fine fashion.

The Avs took care of business in a 7-3 rout of the New York Rangers on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The victory ended the Rangers seven-game winning streak.

Colorado finishes up its five-game road trip with a 3-1-1 record.

The second period was the difference. The Avs broke the game open by scoring five goals and overcame a 2-1 deficit after one period to lead 6-2 at the second intermission.

Nathan MacKinnon's goal at 4:48 tied the game at two and then the Avs continued to score. Nazem Kadri and Alex Newhook gave the Avalanche a two-goal advantage before Logan O'Connor closed out the period with back-to-back goals 22 seconds apart.

O'Connor and Mikko Rantanen each scored a pair of goals while Kadri, Samuel Girard and Devon Toews each had two assists.

The Avs close out the road trip with a 3-1-1 record and now return to Ball Arena in Denver to face the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, December 10 at 7 p.m. MST.
