If one only looked at the final statistics, one would think that the Washington Huskies had spoiled the home finale of the Colorado Buffaloes.

That's why stats only tell some of the story.

While the Huskies won the stat sheet, the Buffs won the game, holding on for a 20-17 in their final home game of the 2021 season.

Colorado only had 183 yards of total offense and 23:53 of possession time. But the Buffs made it all count.

After Cole Becker hit a 35 yard field goal to get CU on the scoreboard with 9:52 left in the first quarter, Jack Lamb got CU in the end zone for the first time with an 88-yard fumble return for a touchdown at the 2:37 mark of the first.

Turnovers were a huge part of the game and one area in which the Buffs dominated. Colorado recovered two fumbles and intercepted two passes while Washington failed to create any turnovers.

The Buffs built a 20-10 lead on a two-yard touchdown run by quarterback Brendon Lewis with 4:05 remaining.

That lead would be big enough, despite one more Washington touchdown.
