The Denver Broncos have acquired veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater from the Carolina Panthers for a sixth-round draft pick in this year's NFL Draft, which starts tomorrow (Thursday, April 29).

Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network was the first to report the trade.

Broncos GM George Paton has said that the team would address the quarterback position. Bridgewater became available after the Panthers acquired quarterback Sam Darnold from the New York Jets.

Bridgewater, 28, threw for 3,733 yards with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last year with the Panthers, his only season with the club. He spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as the back-up to Drew Brees with the New Orleans Saints.

Bridgewater was the Minnesota Vikings first round pick (32nd overall) out of Louisville in the 2014 NFL Draft. He suffered a severe knee injury that caused him to miss the 2016 season and then play in only one game in 2017.
