The Denver Broncos entered the second day of the NFL Draft on Friday with four picks.
They used them all.
The Broncos drafted four players, one in the second round and three more in round three, and came away with another wide receiver, a cornerback, a center and a defensive tackle.
The Broncos day two picks were the following:
2nd Rd (46th)--WR/Ret. KJ Hamler, Penn. St.
3rd Rd (77th)--CB Michael Ojemudia, Iowa
3rd Rd (83rd)--C Lloyd Cushenberry, LSU
3rd Rd (95th)--DT McTelvin Agim, Arkansas
"I think looking back on the way things fell, we’re excited with the players that we had," Broncos President of Football Operations/GM John Elway said. "It was a good day for us.”
The Broncos explored trade options but ultimately, Elway said they decided to stay where they were.
"We had opportunities to move back. We had opportunities to move up. Ultimately, we decided that we were going to stay where we are. We’re glad we are because we ended up not losing any of our picks. We still have all of our picks tomorrow also. We were able to get the people that we wanted."
Thoughts from Elway and head coach Vic Fangio on their day two selections.
2nd Rd (46th)--WR/Ret. KJ Hamler, Penn. St.
ELWAY: "Obviously with Hamler, he’s very, very explosive, really can run and has big play ability. A guy like as Vic would say, scares the heck out of defenses. Plus, he has the ability to run routes, he’s quick, he’s tough and again you can go back and say he is a great returner. We’ll have to go back and see how much he does return, but he does have that ability. He’s a tough guy for his size. He’s a guy that can really run and that’s why we’re excited about him."
3rd Rd (77th)--CB Michael Ojemudia, Iowa
FANGIO: “Well the first thing I liked when we were watching him was just the way he played. He played well. He showed good instincts, had a good feel for the game. He runs well. He’s got some length, a good tackler. I just liked the way he played the game in all of the areas of his job. We were happy to get him there too.”
3rd Rd (83rd)--C Lloyd Cushenberry, LSU
ELWAY: "Cushenberry is a guy that is very solid center. He played in the SEC and had a great career down there, so were excited about Lloyd also. We felt like it was a fairly good day today. Ultimately though they have to come in and play, but we felt good about when the day was over where we were.”
3rd Rd (95th)--DT McTelvin Agim, Arkansas
FANGIO: "He’ll just start off by being one of the guys there and we’ll see how he develops and where exactly he could fit in. He’s a guy that needs developing. He’s not a complete player at this point obviously, but we do like some of the tools that he has and some of the potential that he has. Hopefully we can develop him into being a guy that can compete to make our team, and if he does, that he can contribute."
