He's back.
Even though he hasn't pitched in a Major League game since 2017 with the Baltimore Orioles, right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez is out to make the Colorado Rockies starting rotation.
His first step came Wednesday when he threw two innings and allowed a run on two hits in a 4-3 win the Texas Rangers at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Jimenez threw 21 pitches, 14 for strikes.
Bret Boswell's three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth completed the comeback and gave the Rockies the winning margin. Boswell is off to a torrid start this spring. Through four games, he is hitting .667 (6-for-9) with a home run, six RBIs and four runs scored.
Originally an 8th round draft pick out of the University of Texas in 2017, Boswell struggled at Double-A Hartford last season, hitting only .219 with 15 home runs and 39 RBIs in 106 games.
The Rockies play the Oakland A's in Mesa, Arizona on Thursday at 1:05 p.m.
The next KOA Rockies Spring Training broadcast will be at the Giants in Scottsdale on Friday, February 28 at 6:55 p.m. Catch all the action on KOA 850 AM and 94.1 FM.
