On the opening day of free agency on Sunday, the Denver Nuggets made a big move with one of their own.

Multiple reports said guard Jamal Murray and the Nuggets agreed to a maximum contract extension of five years and $170 million.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium broke the news Sunday night.

Murray, 22, just completed his third season with the Nuggets. He averaged 18.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, while shooting 43.7% from the field and 36.7% from three-point range.

The Nuggets originally selected Murray seventh overall out of the University of Kentucky in the 2016 draft.

Once Murray's rookie contract expires after the upcoming season, the max extension kicks in starting in the 2020-21 season.
