Vail's Lindsey Vonn is calling it a career.
In an Instagram post on Friday morning, Vonn said "it has been an emotional two weeks making the hardest decision of my life, but I have accepted that I cannot continue ski racing."
Vonn's final races will be the World Championships in Are, Sweden next week. She will compete in the Super G on Tuesday and the Downhill on February 10.
Vonn has won 82 World Cup races in her illustrious career, more than any other woman. She captured the gold medal in Downhill in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and two Olympic bronze medals as well.
She is a four-time overall Wolrd Cup champion, winning in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012.
Vonn, 34, has battled through injuries much of her career and recently has been experiencing severe pain in both knees.
