Again, the Denver Broncos were close.

But again, they fell short.

The Broncos fell to the Cleveland Browns, 17-16, Saturday night at Broncos Stadium at Mile High.

The win was the Browns first in Denver since 1990 and only their second in the Mile High City since 1972.

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph decided to kick a field goal on 4th-and-1 at the Browns 11 yard line with 4:39 left. Brandon McManus hit the 29-yarder to get Denver within 17-16.

But the Browns were able to burn clock on their ensuing series.

Running back Nick Chubb ripped off a 40-yard run to get the drive started. Eventually, Denver held Cleveland on 4th-and-1 at the Broncos 10.

The Broncos moved the ball to midfield before turning it over on downs.

Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay could only muster 24 yards on 14 carries. The Browns held the Broncos to 32 yards rushing on 20 attempts.

Denver is now 6-8 while Cleveland is 6-7-1.

The Broncos play at the Raiders on Monday, Dec. 24. Coverage starts at 3 p.m. MST on KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM.
