12/1/25 Blog: I'm Back And Boy Did I Miss Some Stuff

I'M BACK, FAT AND HAPPY And I hope you are too, we had a great holiday week and am ready to hit the ground running so here we go.

GO SEE THIS SHOW We saw the BEST show at Miner's Alley Performing Arts over the break and you should go see it. It's a play of an old time radio performance of "It's A Wonderful Life" and it is an absolute DELIGHT. Buy your tickets here.

GOOD GRIEF, BRONCOS Talk about winning with a heart attack. Last night's game was another squeaker and I honestly think the criticism that the Broncos may be the worst 10-2 team ever may be fair, but THEY ARE TEN AND TWO AND ATOP THE AFC so haters can suck it. I am concerned about the playoffs though.

RIP STATE SENATOR FAITH WINTERS Who passed away last week after a car accident on I-25. Though I disagreed with her about pretty much everything politically, she was a mom to two kids and this is just a tragedy. It always seems worse when you lose someone during the holidays. Read more about it here and maybe say a prayer for her kids and those who loved her.

ABOUT TINA PETERS I haven't talked much about the ongoing wrangling over where she is housed after being convicted of various crimes surrounding her handling of an election. It's now being reported that Peters has been moved into solitary confinement after complaining about a corrections officer. Peters situation continues to divide the Republican party and will be a factor in the upcoming Governor's race, as one candidate, Victor Marx, has said he will pardon her. Read this for more on that.

Dick Wadhams writes about the move by the US Bureau of Prisons, which has not authority over state law enforcement matters, asking for her to be transferred to federal prison. This part is 100% accurate:

As long as Colorado Republicans are defined by stolen election conspiracy theories as promulgated by Trump, Peters and a host of other Republican leaders, unaffiliated voters who make up half of Colorado’s electorate will be repelled from voting for Republicans despite their frustration with total Democratic control.

Tina Peters clearly broke the law, no matter how well intended her actions were. There is no doubt about that. The argument that her sentence is too long may be a good one, but she violated the public trust as an elected official whose job is to ensure that the public can trust elections while trying to prove they weren't. I think making this issue a centerpiece for the Republican primary in any way shape or form is a terrible idea. Wadhams is right about unaffiliated voters. Today we're going to talk about Tina Peters.

SOMALIAN FRAUD EXPOSED The New York Times of all papers reported on massive amounts of fraud being committed in Minnesota under the not so watchful eye of Governor Tim Walz. We know the Governor was asleep at the wheel because his own department of Health and Human Services threw him under the bus HARD.

City Journal writes here about taxpayer dollars are actually funding terrorism. My thinking is that everyone involved in fraud should be the first to be deported, along with their immediate families. I'm tired of the notion that someone who comes here to do bad things deserves the same treatment as those who don't. Send them home. Period. And if you look further into the X feed of the Minnesota DHS you find that they sent WARNINGS TO KAMALA HARRIS about Walz and his ineffective leadership that allowed the fraud to continue. Of course he did, he didn't want to be called racist. I am sure there are many, many Somali refugees who are not corrupt, just to be clear, but the scale of the fraud in Minnesota does give credence to the notion that when you import large numbers of people from fallen and corrupt countries they bring that corruption with them.

HEGSETH IS BEING ACCUSED OF A WAR CRIME And the issue here is a second strike on an alleged drug boat from Venezuela. The first strike destroyed the boat, but there were two survivors hanging on to the remains. A second strike did them in and now Democrats are yelling about a war crime. Sec of War Hegseth has been a target since before his nomination, and now that the military is being carefully un-DEI-ed the Dems are BIG MAD and looking for a way to bring the guy down again. But it is NOT just Democrats. Republicans on oversight committees have joined in asking for a better investigation into what has happened. We'll see how this plays out, you know I have ongoing concerns about these strikes.

LEAVE OR WE'RE COMING IN Apparently the Trump Administration is moving ahead with plans to invade Venezuela if Nicolas Maduro doesn't leave along with his top allies. No declaration of war has been made to my knowledge, however, steps have been taken to make such attacks legal. From the Miami Herald:

At the same time, Washington has moved to expand its legal authority. On Monday, the State Department formally designated the Cartel de los Soles as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, placing Maduro, Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, and Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López in the same legal category as leaders of al-Qaeda and ISIS.
The designation, published in the Federal Register, is seen as a tool that grants the administration new latitude to undertake military action without additional congressional approval.
Analysts say the measure is sweeping in scope. Because U.S. officials argue the cartel operates from within the Venezuelan state, the designation effectively treats the Maduro government as part of a terrorist network.

This is going to be interesting.

POLIS WANTS TO RAID PERA Okay, not RAID it per se, but underpay them next year in violation of the law demanding the state stop shorting PERA. The state employees pension system is on better footing than is was back in 2019 when a huge reform bill was passed, but it's still very underfunded. Now Polis suggests not making the statutorily required payments next year to close the budget gap. Hey, here's a thought, why not SHRINK THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT? Why not actually cut spending? How about that?

BE CAREFUL SHOPPING ONLINE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON As the FBI is warning scammers are working overtime to take your money. If you get an email about a product you bought, DON'T CLICK THE LINKS. Go directly to the website you bought it from and log in to see if there is really something there. Read more here. Oh, and if it seems too good to be true, it most certainly is.

ADU GRANTS ARE MORE SUBSIDIES FOR THE RICH Because let's be real, building an Accessory Dwelling Unit on your property is NOT cheap. And yet, the State of Colorado is giving out grants to various communities for some reason to make this happen. How about just make is easier by changing the stupid rules in each of those communities instead?

CALDARA UNDERSTANDS THE WORST KIND OF LOSS Sometimes my snarky goofball of a pal Jon Caldara writes something that lets his soft, gooey center show. Here he writes about the loss of a child, something he knows a lot about.

SO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS DID GET MEDICAID SERVICES Even though federal law prohibits people here illegally from accessing Medicaid, Colorado created a program for them anyway, paid for by Colorado taxpayers. But that's not all. Illegal immigrants receiving emergency services are still getting Medicaid coverage. And now the state is being forced to share that data with the Feds. Read more here.

SOME ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WILL LOSE THEIR FREE HEALTHCARE As the Omni Salud program, designed for illegal immigrants, deals with the fallout of cuts to extended subsidies for Obamacare. I'm honestly not sure how those two things are connected, but here we are. This story says multiple times that no federal dollars fund this program but blame the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill for it's problems so I'm again, not sure how this is connected.

BOULDER RESTAURANT NAMED ONE OF THE BEST OF THE CENTURY And if you haven't been to Frasca Food and Wine it's worth the trip. Read more here.

YES, WE KEEP OUR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS UP UNTIL THE END OF JANUARY And y'all, this is my FAVORITE Colorado thing ever. Tell the Grinches giving the side eye on December 26th to simmer down and send them this.

OF COURSE SOCIAL SECURITY RUNS OUT OF MONEY Just in time for Gen X to need it. Read more here about what's going to happen in the 2030s when we run out of money from our fake social security lockbox.

SHELBY HARRIS SAYS WHAT HE THINKS And he is not appreciative of San Fran's WR Jauan Jennings and let it be known after the game. I love Shelby.

IS DENVER THE EPICENTER OF THE NEW HOUSING CRASH? I've got a lot to say about this video, mostly about how a market correction is NOT the same as what happened in 2008.

I AM AGAINST PAJAMAS ON AIRPLANES And I agree with Sec of Transportation Sean Duffy that we need to bring civility back to air travel, but how about now packing us all in like sardines? How about that?
