Broncos Beat Bills in OT of AFC Divisional Round 33-30

Bills won the toss and elected to defer.

Broncos offense got the ball to start from their own 26 yard line after the Marvin Mims return and he was crunched, but would return to the game. Broncos worked efficiently down the field with 3 early completions to Pat Bryant who got Denver into Buffalo territory. Bo Nix scrambled for a couple of key first downs including on 4th down to keep the drive alive. Broncos caught a HUGE break on a Jaleel McLaughlin fumble that the Bills jumped offsides on. Lil'Jordan Humphrey dropped what would've been a really easy touchdown so the Broncos would settle for a 28 yard field goal, taking an early lead 3-0 after a 14 play drive that took 7:31 off the clock.

Bills started their first offensive drive from their own 33 yard line and were quickly in Denver territory on a 24 yard gallop from James Cook. Bills converted their first 3rd down on a QB sneak and worked all the way down to the Denver 12 yard line. Facing a 3rd and 6 from the Denver 7 yard line, Allen scrambled for a 6 yard gain and then with a QB sneak got the first down. A couple plays later, Allen hit Mecole Hardman for a wide open touchdown in the right side flat (nearly identical play that helped win the Chiefs the Super Bowl a couple years ago). Bills take the lead 7-3 with 5 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter.

Starting from their own 20 yard line, RJ Harvey fumbled the exchange but Bo was able to pick it up and throw an incomplete pass, averting a disaster. On 3rd and 10, Nix's pass to Courtland was right on him but he couldn't bring it in. Broncos went 3 and out and punted it back to Buffalo, who would start from their own 37 yard line.

Josh Allen got loose on a 26 yard run all the way down to the Denver 32 yard line but on the next play, James Cook took a toss left side and Alex Singleton forced a fumble with Talanoa Hufanga recovering it at the Denver 31 yard line!

Jaleel McLaughlin took the handoff for 13 yards and then RJ Harvey had a 12 yard carry to get the offense into Buffalo territory. Bo Nix hit Marvin Mims over the middle for 27 yards and the Broncos were quickly into the Red Zone. Facing a 3rd and 1 from the Bills 7 yard line, Nix play faked and hit Lucas Krull in the right flat and he rumbled in for a 7 yard touchdown!! Broncos went back in front 10-7 with 9:33 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Bills started their next drive from their own 17 yard line and quickly got their initial 1st down off of a James Cook handoff and QB sneak. James Cook got a 24 yard reception along the right sideline and the Bills were quickly into Denver territory. Broncos defense finally got to Josh Allen and Malcolm Roach got the first sack and would add another a few plays later. On 3rd and 10, Bills were called for holding but the pass was dropped in the end zone by Keon Coleman. Bills settle for a 33 yard FG and tie the game 10-10 with 2:13 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Broncos offense started with the ball at their own 30 yard line and got their 1st first down of the drive on the other side of the 2 min warning in a completion to Mims for 6 yards. Denver worked into Buffalo territory before an Alex Forsyth hold backed them out of field goal range. Harvey caught a 10 yard pass to get the Broncos back into Bills territory with 44 seconds remaining in the 1st half, ball at the Buffalo 44. Facing a 3rd and 10, Nix hit Marvin Mims for 14 yards and the Broncos were now in field goal range. A couple plays later, Bo Nix hit Lil'Jordan Humphrey for 29 yards out for a MASSIVE touchdown before halftime! Broncos retake the lead 17-10 but were not done.

Bills got the ball back with 16 seconds remaining and Josh Allen on a scramble FUMBLED THE BALL WITH 2 SECONDS REMAINING IN THE FIRST HALF. Wil Lutz converted a 51 yard field goal and the Broncos took a 20-10 lead into halftime.

Bills started with the ball at their own 25 yard line and on 2nd and 10, Nik Bonitto raced around the right side and forced a Josh Allen fumble! Broncos offense took over at the Buffalo 17 yard line but were unable to punch in a touchdown. Wil Lutz converted a 33 yard field goal to extend the lead 23-10, with 11:35 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Bills worked into Denver territory after Alex Singleton JUST missed a sack on Allen and he completed it to Dalton Kincaid for 26 yards. Bills offense continued to march and eventually making it down to the 10 yard line where Allen hit Coleman for a 10 yard touchdown after he broke a tackle from Riley Moss. Bills cut into the lead, 23-17 with 6:49 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Broncos start from their own 35 and on 3rd and 5 from the 40, Bo Nix targeting Engram was intercepted by Deone Walker who just jumped up in the air and snatched it. Bills take over at the Denver 36 yard line.

HOWEVER, two plays later, PJ Locke intercepted Josh Allen and ran it back to the Denver 39 yard line to give the ball right back to the offense. The Broncos offense was able to get a first down with Marvin Mims on a catch and run of 19 yards but unfortunately were forced to punt a couple plays later, pinning the Bills at their own 15 yard line with 2:30 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Bills get their initial first down of the drive running the ball with Cook and a QB sneak on 3rd and 1. Allen hit Khalil Shakir on a slant that he took down inside the Red Zone to the Denver 16 yard line for a 46 yard catch and run. On 3rd and 8, Allen throws a fade to Kincaid and he beat Hufanga for a touchdown. Bills go in front 24-23 with 13:24 remaining in the game.

Broncos started their drive at their own 32 yard line and facing a 3rd and 7, Nix's pass deflected at the line and fell incomplete. Broncos punted it back to Buffalo who would start at their own 20 after a touchback. 11:50 remaining in the game.

Buffalo effectively moved down the field burning clock but eventually the drive stalled and the Bills were forced to settle for a field goal, extending the lead 27-23 with 4:11 remaining in the game.

Broncos offense were running out of time to do something but a couple of huge completions to Courtland Sutton got the drive going including a 23 yard completion on 3rd and 11. From the 29 yard line, Bo Nix hit Marvin Mims along the left side for a HUGE touchdown to go back in front 30-27 with under a minute to go in the game.

Josh Allen and the Bills got their initial first down of the drive to their own 41 yard line as the clock ticked below 40 seconds. Shakir caught a short pass and pitched it to Davis who ran it for 24 yards and into field goal range. Matt Prater connected on a 50 yard field goal and we headed to OT tied at 30.

Bills won the toss and elected to kick the ball to the Broncos offense started from their own 28 yard line. After an initial first down to Sutton, the Broncos were forced to punt when Nix's 3rd and 12 pass fell incomplete. Jeremy Crawshaw pinned the Bills at their own 7 yard line.

Bills got their first 1st down of the drive on a completion and then Josh Allen took a deep shot to Cooks and Ja'Quan McMillian took it away from him for a MASSIVE interception!! The Broncos offense got to mid-field on an RJ Harvey catch and run for 24 yards. Sutton drew a DPI that got the ball within field goal range and then Mims drew a 30 yard DPI to set the ball up at the 5 yard line! Wil Lutz converted the OT field goal and the Broncos won 33-30 and advanced to the AFC Championship game!
