UNFORTUNATELY YOU DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO A JOB This story is making headlines because a lesbian teacher at a Catholic school has been fired for being in a same sex relationship. I have a lot of issues with this story for a myriad of reasons. Not the least of which is that the teacher KNEW the rules and went to teach at a Catholic school ANYWAY. The story is about a gay tech teacher who has been fired from a Catholic school for being in a same sex relationship, NOT for being gay. She had to know this would come to a head at some point and it feels like she has been waiting for this to happen so she can make it a news story. She says she is worried about not being able to get a job while there are tons of unfilled positions in pretty much ever school district right now. I'd welcome her to apply at my daughter's charter school as she is alleged to be a great technology teacher. But a Catholic school has Catholic rules and you know them when you sign up so I'm not particularly sympathetic to her position here.
WHY ARE WE STILL IN A COVID EMERGENCY? I heard this last night and my jaw dropped. Our allegedly libertarian Governor (spoiler alert: he's not a libertarian) has EXTENDED the Covid Declaration of Emergency AGAIN. The Denver Gazette has an editorial about it here, but this is just stupid at this point.
WHY WAS A 12 YEAR OLD BOOSTING A CAR? That 12 year old is now dead. He was shot and killed by the owner of the car he took and I can't say I blame the owner for shooting him. I can say I blame whatever people are supposed to be his parents. I'm guessing they too are damaged people and now their son is dead. This is more of the culture of violence in our state.
HOW MUCH DO DENVER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS HATE SCHOOL CHOICE? We're going to find out as the districts innovation schools, which operate with more freedom than traditional schools (which means less union control) are up for renewal. They already tried to kneecap the schools last year but there was a huge outcry from the schools and the parents who love being able to choose them for their children. WE WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN THIS SWINGERS CLUB WAS THERE UNTIL NOW Centennial is mad that someone opened up a non-descript private swingers club in an office and I have to wonder, how did they know? There is no signage to indicate people are getting busy in the club from the outside. So who ratted them out? And why? Who cares if a bunch of people want to meet up to hook up if they aren't causing any issue in the neighborhood? If they are raising hell and causing noise or trash issues, then I get it. But if people are parking and going inside, why is this an issue? It's not like there is a huge sign advertising sexy time outside. I'm genuinely perplexed by this.
DOUGLAS COUNTY IS WORKING ON TEACHER HOUSING And if you read this article you begin to see how complex this issue is and how many details have to be hammered out, but it's a start. DougCo is losing teachers because DougCo voters won't vote a mill levy increase when all of the surrounding districts are so they have to do something.
DON'T TRY THE ALL YOU CAN EAT PIZZA DIET AT HOME I hate stuff like this. A fitness trainer decided to show that it really is calories in, calories out (which is not true) when it comes to losing weight and to "prove" it he ate pizza every day for a month. He says he got leaner but I really don't care. Eating one food all month generally leads you to eat less of it and this is just one of those things. He also doesn't talk about what his workout strategy was and he points out that he carefully crafted his pizza to provide the exact same amount of protein, fat and carbs every day, so it really isn't just calories in, calories out, now is it? This is dumb, don't try it.

We all know what happened when Reagan turned the economy around but we also know what happened to Carter and Trump.
