WHEN A SIMPLE GOVERNMENT AGENCY GETS CORRUPTED BY POLITICS And Weld County Commissioner Scott James has written here about how the Department of Local Affairs has gone from a mundane agency that counties used to be able to use to get help with water and sewer lines, wastewater plants, main streets, and public safety facilities to an organization that is designed to execute the Governor's plans. He's on at 2:30 to talk about it.
BREWERS HELPING VETS WITH BEER The Aurora City Brew Club (AC/BC) is a group of homebrewers who make beer for their own enjoyment. Last year they brewed a special batch of beer to support the Veterans Community Project and they are doing it again this year. From their email to me about this year's beer:
The beer that we brewed is an American Strong Ale, about 8% ABV, that we call "Devil Dogs Bloodstripe". Another Marine Corps veteran and I have been working on and tweaking this recipe for about six years now. It was inspired by our Marine Corps service and Marine Corps traditions. It has a reddish color to it, hence the "Bloodstripe" name. We used malts and hops that had military names; Victory Malts, Hops named Warrior, Chinook, Target, and Liberty. We have brewed this beer every year, usually around Veterans Day/USMC Birthday. We entered last year's version into a few Homebrew competitions this year and won three gold medals and "Best of Show" twice. So, we felt that it was tweaked just enough and our club decided to brew it for this charitable event. This beer will be available December 13th at both Bent Barley Brewery locations and both Launch Pad Brewery locations as well. There will be representatives from VCP at the breweries to share what they do and what contributions will do to help them out.
If you like beer what a great way to help out veterans at the same time. Tim Macho and Terry McCawley are joining me at 1 to talk about beer for a hot minute.
MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE ON 60 MINUTES IS INTERESTING Especially the part where she says if people knew how Republicans talked about Donald Trump behind his back they would be shocked. You can watch it below.
The only reason I'm elevating this is to demonstrate once again that Trump's loyalty is nothing if not finite, and I actually admire her for standing up to him and leaving Congress. We'll see what she does next, if anything.
AND YET TRUMP DEMANDS LOYALTY FROM EVERYONE And Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar, who Trump just pardoned for bribery and corruption crimes he was facing along with his wife, is running to retain his seat and has chosen to remain a Democrat. Now Trump is unloading on Cuellar for "disloyalty". Sure. Fine. This is why I wonder why anyone would align themselves with Trump.
WHICH STATES PAY THE MOST FOR ELECTRICITY? This is a super cool story with a super cool graphic about which states have the highest electricity costs. I share it with you so you can remember how low our rates were before Polis's green dreams took over.
CONGRATS TO THE GOAT DAVE LOGAN He was won his 13th State Championship as a coach when his Cherry Creek kids took the 5A crown this weekend. This is a great story about him and what Deion could learn from him from Sports Illustrated. I think there is no doubt that when it comes to high school coaching there is none better than Dave Logan. He's pretty much good at everything he tries. Jerk.
WOLF REINTRODUCTION HITS A SNAG And the Denver Gazette writes and editorial about it here. Seems no one wants to share their wolves with us now. Too bad.
AMC IS OFFERING HOLIDAY CLASSICS And I love this idea, though the movies are all fairly new in the grand scheme of Christmas movies, which I think is a mistake. Find the list here, but what would you like to see on the big screen again, or maybe for the first time? I saw White Christmas on the big screen a few years ago and it was lovely.
AND NOW, DOGS GREETING THEIR OWNERS AFTER A LONG TIME AWAY
MY APOLOGIES TO PETA For misrepresenting their position on owning pets. After telling you last week about a bill they want to run in Delaware that would require three walks a day for your dog, I said they hated the concept of pet ownership entirely, but I was wrong. I got an email from them about it, which included the following:
If you spend a moment looking into PETA, you’ll see that we promote animal adoption at every turn, and as I write this, my adopted dog and cat are lying next to me, so it’s simply not true that we’re “anti pet ownership,” as you said on the air. Will you please correct this misinformation on the air so that your listeners are not misled?
We also promote responsible animal guardianship, which includes spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted animals from being born and overloading the country’s already overburdened shelters—and it includes making sure that our dogs get plenty of exercise and socialization. For so many dogs, a walk is the only time they get to relieve themselves, get some exercise, and check out the sights, sounds, and sniffs of the neighborhood. Dogs have to ask us for everything—when to eat, when to play, when to go outside—and we shouldn’t be forcing them to cross their legs and “hold it” from early morning until late at night. Three walks a day, at minimum, is very little to give in return to the dogs who give us so much love and affection.
You know I always want you to have the correct information, so consider me corrected.
NO, THIS IS NOT A VOUCHER PROGRAM I saw this tweet by Phil Weiser and almost rolled my eyes so far back into my head that they were gone forever.
This is such an ignorant reading of the actual plan that Polis is going to participate in as to be embarrassing. First off, this isn't remotely a voucher program that would take public education dollars for use at private schools. I support that, by the way. This is a scholarship program that allows people to make a donation that would fund a scholarship for a student to use for whatever they want educationally. Tuition, uniforms, school fees, etc. It doesn't take a single dollar away from public ed. It then gives the donor a nice tax credit for the trouble. The Governor is right on about this one.
MAINE MAY HAVE ITS OWN MEDICAID ISSUES A whistleblower who worked in billing for a major Medicaid provider in Maine is blowing the whistle on similar shenanigans when it comes to Medicaid fraud in Maine. Maine also has a massive Somali community and it's being alleged that similar scams were being used in Maine. Read more here.
THE GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINEES ARE OUT And once again I haven't seen a vast majority of everything that is nominated. See the list here.
WHAT MUSIC DOES DENVER LISTEN TO? Spotify's Wrapped for Denver isn't full of the weird bands I thought it would be full of. Taylor Swift reigned supreme overall, but Kendrick Lamar took the top song. Find it all here.
NOTRE DAME GETS THE FSU TREATMENT And perhaps by deciding to sit out their lousy second tier bowl game we can begin to fix the garbage college football playoff system. It is garbage. Notre Dame did the right thing in my opinion. Alabama got in on reputation again, and that's horse crap.
LOWE'S GOES ALL OUT FOR A TEAM MEMBER
TRUMP WANTS FOOTBALL TO CHANGE ITS NAME And no. Just no.
DOES ANYONE REALLY NEED A SOCCER PEACE PRIZE? This feels like the ultimate participation trophy for Donald Trump. To be clear, Trump clearly deserves to win the Nobel Peace Prize but this seems silly.
No one really seems to know how the winner is chosen.

A BIT ON CLIMATE HYSTERIA The climate hysteria is finally waning. But not just because it has largely failed to move the needly on public opinion on climate change, but because some of the biggest players are being mismanaged badly. I'm fine with that. Read more here.
