HAPPY 100TH TO KOA! Okay, the ACTUAL birth DATE was last December but we've been busy so we're celebrating officially today. I know many of you grew up with KOA and I'd love to hear YOUR memories of the station.
ONE BILLLLLLION DOLLARS That's how much Colorado is in the hole apparently. Governor Polis found time to share this with the media while not looping in Republicans according to this post by Barb Kirkmeyer. Overspending and creating ongoing programs with one time funds has lead us here and now we're supposed to be grateful when we waste money on a special session to fix the problems created by Democrats. Don't believe the garbage "it's Trump's fault" because I'm not seeing a bunch of Red states complaining.
I NEED TO TALK ABOUT SIDNEY SWEENEY I know, I know I said I wasn't going to get into the stupidest internet flap in the world but COME ON. This is beyond stupid but ultimately it's great news because it proves there is so little racism left in the US that it must be manufactured out of whole cloth and that cloth in this case in denim. You know why a bunch of liberal women are mad about the ad? Because Sidney Sweeney is unapologetically hot and they hate her for it. This column makes the great point that after all the marketing campaigns trying to redefine beauty based on whatever that day decides is beautiful this campaign marks a return to a long known fact: beautiful people sell. In case you've missed the commercial that wackadoodle women (and for the record, I've not seen ONE MAN make a comment) here it is:
This is why the Democrats are getting clobbered. Because a core part of their base, liberal women, has come completely unglued and unmoored from reality. The good news is American Eagle is not saying ANYTHING. No slobbering apology, no "we'll pull the campaign" NOTHING. This is a HUGE step forward for sanity. I can't believe I'm even having to talk about this. But here we are. My pal David Strom at Hotair.com writes here about how we all got to watch a media narrative be born and grow with this one. He's not wrong.
THE FACT THIS NEEDS A GO FUND ME IS SHAMEFUL But I'm thankful that two women are trying to do something to help get rape kits tested in Colorado. Right now it takes an average of 570 days to get a rape kit tested, and in that time, which amounts to 18 months and change, women can't pursue protection from their attackers and those attackers could go on to attack other people. This is beyond shameful considering we live in a state run by Democrats who always claim to be the party of women. Now someone has made a huge donation to the fundraiser started by two victims of sexual assault, but it's still not enough.
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DEMOCRAT LAWSUIT There has not been a day since Trump took office that some Democrat somewhere hasn't filed suit against the Trump administration. I wish I were kidding. Just this week, our AG signed onto a couple MORE lawsuits against the admin, bringing the total up to like 12,475 or something. Now Jason Crow has filed suit because he went to an ICE facility on a holiday weekend and was told to come back. It's nice that Democrats have time to file lawsuits on behalf of illegal immigrants too, isn't it?
BUT DEMS LOVE TO SUE EVERYONE As evidenced by their work on behalf of trial lawyers to make it even easier to sue here. This story says we are now a hotbed for litigation. Read this:
During the 2025 session, the Colorado legislature introduced 45 bills creating new private rights of action or expanding civil liability. According to the Colorado Civil Justice League, more than half of those bills were signed into law, including measures expanding the definition of damages under the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act and modifying the state's wage and hour enforcement laws.
“Colorado lawmakers seem hell-bent on making it easier and more lucrative to sue, while doing little to help the people who actually drive their state’s economy,” said Tiger Joyce, ATRA's president. “The sheer volume of liability-expanding bills introduced this year is staggering.”
Look I'm not mad at trial lawyers and when you have been legitimately wronged you need to be able to seek redress, but you CAN go too far. We are now there.
GAVIN NEWSOM WANTS TO HELP BOYS And this is nice, isn't it? Signing a bill designed to bring money and attention to the crisis of boys and men committing suicide? But why are boys and men struggling? Could it be because they are told that being a boy is "toxic masculinity" and that exhibiting natural boy behaviors like roughhousing are part of that toxic culture that is the root of all evil? And where did that all come from? It's a mystery. I guess I should focus on the positive, which is that we're finally paying attention to the destruction we've caused with years of nothing but GIRL POWER.
THE LEAST SURPRISING VERDICT IN THE HISTORY OF VERDICTS Is the guilty finding of dentist James Craig in the poisoning murder of his wife. We'll see how long he gets in prison, but my heart goes out to his children, who not only lost their mother but found out their father was a monster. He may have been a good dentist but if you followed the details of this case you know he was the worst criminal ever.
THE GOOD AND BAD OF ASSISTED SUICIDE And no matter what you call it, and in Colorado it's Medical Aid In Dying, it's assisted suicide. This is a really good, balanced article about the issue, showing the side of a man suffering with bone cancer who got to choose how he went out, while also sharing the concerns of people with disabilities who are concerned they will be rushed into death. It's a complex issue, and one that I believe in, to a point. After watching my grandfather suffer mightily with kidney cancer I became a supporter. But seeing what it's become in places like Canada, where they are helping suicidal people kill themselves, is not what I support. If we're honest, we've had Medical Aid in Dying since the beginning of the hospice movement. Read it for more.
IF A CHEEK SWAB IS WHAT IT TAKES To make sure that only women are competing I'd say line up, ladies. Sure, it's an inconvenience but perhaps it will dissuade men from trying to beat up women, literally and figuratively. World Athletics, which oversees track and field has ruled that every woman will be subject to a cheek swab test that will look for male genes. If any show up, there will be additional tests. This is how you protect women's sports!

GREAT ADVICE FROM PEOPLE OVER 60 I love this guy and these interviews.
THE FICTION OF CHEAP RENEWABLE ENERGY This is a great column on the lies being told about renewable energy. We need to read it because Colorado has committed to going fully (unreliable) renewable energy and it's going to cost us bigly. Some of the stats are shockingly bad. Read it here.
TRUMP'S ONGOING COMMERCIAL DIPLOMACY HITS INDIA As he announces pretty dang big tariffs on India for buying Russian oil. I get it, but the only way to make a dent in Russia's ability to wage war is to incentivize the oil industry HERE to drill, baby, drill to collapse oil prices. That takes care of Iran too.
THIS IS WHY YOU WEAR YOUR SEATBELT THE WHOLE FLIGHT People were taken to the hospital after severe turbulence on a Delta flight. Wear your seatbelt THE ENTIRE TIME. I have a story about this.
LET'S TALK ADULT SUMMER CAMP I loved summer camp as a kid. Camp Dovewood was a magical Christian all girls camp (still is actually, find it here) that I loved being a part of when I was a kid. Now adults are doing summer camp and I kind of want to go. What activities would you want to do?
DON'T LOVE YOUR PERSONALITY? You might be able to fix it.
HIGH TAXES INSPIRE AN EXODUS And the Northeast is seeing it in real time. Check this article from the New York Post:
New York and New Jersey lost $140 billion in income in just one decade. Call it moving van economics — and New York and New Jersey are the losers. A new analysis from my organization, Unleash Prosperity, of the latest census and income tax data finds these two states have lost more residents over the past decade than any other state not named California.
From 2015 to 2024, New York has lost 2 million residents.
Why did they leave? Because taxes are too high and rich people have the means to move. This is almost as unsurprising as the dentist murder verdict. You would think Colorado would want to pay attention to this but I bet they won't.
MORE ON TRUMP WINNING ON TARIFFS And this column explains beautifully what I've long thought, and that is Trump views tariffs as a bargaining chip as well as an income stream. And perhaps because he comes from the business world and not the political world, he seems to have a better handle on just how GOOD our leverage is with other nations. He doesn't do deals that don't benefit Americans, he doesn't shy away from pointing out how important our market is and he uses that all to make deals that should benefit Americans first. I'm cool with that.
ABOUT CONGRESSIONAL INSIDER TRADING We all know it happens, otherwise a person in public service would not be able to amass a fortune. Now that a bill has been introduced to curb insider trading, Jake Tapper actually asked Nancy Pelosi, whose husband has made a fortune off extremely fortuitously timed trades, about the bill and Congressional trading. This is magic.
Trump isn't happy about Hawley's bill though. Why? He's afraid that the Democrats will target him with the PELOSI Bill. He's not wrong.

LITERALLY THE SWEETEST STORY OF THE YEAR I may have ugly cried over this little boy.
