5/30/25 Blog: Gen Z Finds God, And The Truth About Wealth Inequality

GEN Z IS SEARCHING AND THEY ARE FINDING GOD I love this story so much. Today at 12:30 I will talk to Associate Editor John Hirshhauer from City Journal about this story he did on Gen Z returning to church. I love this part especially:

Yet these cultural losses may have laid the groundwork for a revival. Public Christianity in the United States receded in part because a rising counterculture successfully challenged its restrictions on individual conduct. Advocates of cultural liberalization gained support by portraying mid-century Christian institutions as rigid and outdated. But today, that once-rebellious counterculture dominates the spaces that Americans inhabit—schools, workplaces, and popular media. And young people, always drawn to rebellion, appear to be pushing back. Many are rejecting a culture that exalts personal autonomy and denigrates self-sacrifice. Perhaps as a result, a surprising number of young adults—who might otherwise have left religion at even higher rates than their parents did—are, for the first time in decades, choosing to stay.

I love that turning to God can be an act of rebellion and an act of salvation.

JUST HOW UNEQUAL IS OUR WEALTH? If you listen to Bernie Sanders rich people are literally stealing the change from poor people's pockets, but of course that is false. But the Gospel of Wealth Inequality is a powerful elixir doled out to gin up envy and greed in the people and it's effective. But is it true? At 1 I'm talking with Daniel Waldenstrom, Professor of Economics, Research Institute of Industrial Economics, Stockholm, Sweden Previously professor at Paris School of Economics, Uppsala University, UCLA about his work on it, and it tells a much different story. Read this for more, but we will dig in today. Find his book on the subject, Richer and More Equal: A New History of Wealth in the West by clicking here.

WHEN RUNNING LIKE A GIRL IS A GOOD THING Meet Natalie Daniels. She Ran Boston in 2:50:04. Then Got Cancelled. Natalie Daniels, a 5x marathon winner and new mom, trained hard to run the Boston Marathon just six months postpartum. Before the race, she spoke out with XX-XY Athletics about fairness in women’s sports — and faced backlash. Her teammates leaked her location, and her club told her not to wear their singlet. She ran anyway, in XX-XY gear, finishing in 2:50:04. After the race, she was kicked out for standing up for real women. Now she's starting a running club for women with the help of XX-XY. Find out more here, and Natalie joins me at 2:30 today to discuss it. Join the team running club here!

IT'S ABOUT TIME JEFFCO SUPER DORLAND WAS IN THE HOT SEAT If you've been listening to this show for any length of time you know I think JeffCo Schools Superintendent is incompetent and dismissive of parents and seems to have a problem hiring sexual predators. FINALLY other people are starting to say the same things. Now the Jefferson County Education Association, the union that serves teachers there, has sent a letter expressing no confidence in Dorland. Even State Senator Barb Kirkmeyer sent a letter and she lays it out brilliantly:

“From the tragic high profile case of the chief of schools — whose misconduct was allowed to continue until his death — to a series of incidents where individuals accused of wrongdoing were permitted to resign quietly or be transferred rather than held accountable, this district has repeatedly chosen to protect itself instead of protecting students,” Kirkmeyer said.
She added: “The public trust has been shattered. A culture that allows misconduct to be ignored, minimized or hidden must be dismantled. That starts with new leadership.”

It is time for Dorland to go and new leadership to be brought in. In an ideal world the board would flip as well. Why do they need to be replaced? This statement is why:

When asked who the district will hold accountable for the string of incidents, the district's spokesperson said, "With the full cooperation of Jeffco Public Schools, the people who have committed the crimes are being held accountable by law enforcement and the criminal justice system. In Jeffco, under Superintendent Dorland’s leadership, the district has cultivated a stronger culture of reporting and transparency, ensuring that when allegations arise, they are taken seriously, investigated thoroughly and referred swiftly to law enforcement."

No. No they haven't. Not at all. There are three seats up this year in the election, and all three need to go to candidates who promise to make JeffCo the most transparent district in the state, with the clearest rules about where the lines between students and teachers should be. Period.

LOCK UP YOUR DANG DOGS, DENVER Because they are biting mail carriers with enough frequency that we made the top 10 for dog bites! Read more here and I'm thinking about my friend Jared from Boulder on this one.

I HATE THIS BILL TOO, BUT I KNOW HOW TO ACT LIKE A DECENT HUMAN Unlike the small band of dumbasses who showed up with the explicit purpose of disrupting a press conference with Reps. Gabe Evans and Lauren Boebert. They were there to make the case for the deficit busting "Big Beautiful Bill" and protesters showed their behinds the entire time. Watch below but it's entirely predictable.

THE DHS SANCTUARY CITY LIST IS WRONG As they put Aurora on the list when they are CLEARLY not supportive of the nonsense that Denver and Boulder are. You can see all the Colorado jurisdictions here. I'm sure Mayor Coffman is salty about this one. El Paso county is on this as well, which is also clearly stupid. UPDATE: Danielle Jurinsky already took care of this. UPDATE #2: Now we find out that El Paso has objected and been removed as well.

THE TARIFF RULING WAS A GOOD ONE And both the Wall Street Journal editorial board and our own Jimmy Sengenberger wrote about it, click on those names for individual columns about it and they are both worth the read. The long and short of both is that if you love the Constitution and its brilliant separation of powers you should embrace this ruling as upholding both.

BO NIX IS READY FOR PRIME TIME And this column by Mark Kiszla has me so excited for this upcoming season! Go Broncos!

CALLING ALL RYANS! I love this because I have a son named Ryan and it makes me happy. If you're named Ryan (and no Bryans allowed, just an fyi) you have a chance to be part of the largest official meeting of Ryan's at a Rockies game on June 20th. At least there's one reason to go to a Rockies game!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRUST GEORGE SOROS This is such an inside radio story but I think it's fascinating because it has to do with George Soros buying media properties. It seems the Soros company made promises to a radio executive who alleges that he helped secure the Audacy deal in exchange for a promise of the CEO job, only to have the Soros company renege after the deal was done. Now he's suing. First off, this buy showed horrible judgement by not getting it all in writing. Second of all, this doesn't surprise me at all. Lie down with dogs they say.

REPUBLICAN SUPPORT OF GAY MARRIAGE DROPS And I think this is because of the way gay and trans rights have gone from "we just want to be left alone to live our lives" to "you must use idiotic pronouns and call a dude a woman" but it still makes me unhappy. Gay marriage is a legal issue, not a moral issue. And I bet not a single person who answered that gay marriage is wrong can give me a single example of how THEIR lives have been negatively affected by gay marriage. This sort of polling could potentially fracture new alliances that have been growing between the gay community and the Republican party. I have told my gay friends that I will fight for them and their rights and I mean it. If you don't like gay marriage, don't marry a person of the same sex. Easy peasy.

DON'T HATE THE "WELCOME IN" I noticed this when I went to the mall last weekend. When I walked into three different stores a greeter at the front door said, "welcome in" and I thought it was nice. Others are apparently finding it objectionable. I never find any sort of kindness objectionable so I'm kind of confused why this is a thing.

CANADA IS ON FIRE AGAIN But because these fires are in Manitoba we likely won't have the smoke issues we've had in the past, but if you're travelling to North Dakota or Minnesota is could be ugly. Read more here.

PORN AND GAMING ARE SAPPING YOUNG MEN'S DESIRE FOR WORK I get it, it's fun to play games and watch porn all day. But what I don't get from this article from the UK is how do these young men without jobs live? Meaning how do they buy food? Or pay for housing? What is enabling them to drop out of the workforce to sit at home addicted to porn and gaming? Solve that problem and I guarantee this dudes will get off their behinds and find a job.

SOMETHING IN SPACE IS SENDING STEADY SIGNALS And we really don't know what is sending high powered x rays and radio waves every 44.2 minutes on the dot. I'm sure it will be fine. Right? It will be fine? Or should we prepare for the invasion? I've heard they eat the fat ones first so maybe call SOTA today if you need to. Just saying.

WHY DOES TRUMP DO THIS? Why does he repost memes from white supremacists?

AMELIA NEEDS A GOOD SPANKING And I'm not big on spanking but if ever there were a brat who needed one, it's this kid. Watch below or click here if you want to see the WORST parenting I've seen in a long time. Parenting SO BAD that the mom put this on the internet thinking what??? It would shame her out of control child into good behavior???

A BIT ON THE FAT GARBAGE LEADERSHIP OF HAMAS

YOUR TAX DOLLARS ARE FUNDING KINK EDUCATION If BDSM is your thing more power to you. I have no beef with you enjoying whatever kinks you want as long as you are doing so in a consensual relationship. HOWEVER, and this is a BIG HOWEVER, taxpayer dollars should NOT be funding education about such kinks. Figure them out on the internet like everyone else for criminy's sake. Then I see this:

I'm not even sure I'm going to get to this today but we will be getting to it in the future I can assure you.

SPEAKING OF WEIRD KINKS Fans demanded the bathwater that actress Sydney Sweeney sat in to film a soap commercial and she's obliged by making a soap with bathwater in it. You can have it for $8. I'll pass.

BACK WHEN I WAS A KID Continuing on with our discussion the other day, here is a list of stuff that was declared "dangerous" by weenies at some point that we did all the time.

ASKING CHAT GPT HOW RICH PEOPLE AVOID PAYING TAXES And it was probably a disappointment to find out they use legal methods to do so.

AND NOW, SKIBIDI TOILET Because if I have to see this, you do to. These kids today are touched as we used to say.

ABOUT THOSE JEWISH SPACE LASERS Maybe MTG wasn't totally crazy on this one.
