WE WILL BE GETTING TABOR REFUNDS And I'm guessing this will be the last year of BIG TABOR refunds because the Democratic Legislature has reassigned OUR refunds to groups they think deserve our money more than we do going forward. The state took in $1.7 BILLION more than they should have based on the TABOR formulation and we'll be getting back a few different ways, from a lowering of the income tax rate to checks. AURORA IS INVESTIGATING DENVER Because they are pretty sure that Denver used NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations) to place a bunch of illegal immigrants in Aurora without letting anyone in Aurora know. So they voted to investigate how this happened, because it has obviously created huge problems for Aurora. I think this and the lawsuit by Douglas County and others suing over Denver's Sanctuary city policies is a good idea. Someone needs to hold Denver accountable for the negative impacts they have brought to surrounding communities. DOES VAIL HAVE THE RIGHT TO PULL A RESIDENCY OVER POLITICS? A Native American artist who was chosen to be the artist in residence for the City of Vail had that award pulled after she posted a pro-Hamas painting on her personal social media account. She says she was told the City cancelled her residency because of the post and now she's suing with the help of the ACLU. She may have a case, though because this was an "award" situation I'm not sure this will fly. We shall see if the City settles or decides to defend itself. But is this right? Artists are known to push boundaries with their work and this is kind of no different. The artist's assertion that she was drawing parallels between the genocide of the Native American population to the "genocide" of the Palestinian people is absurd on the face of it, by the way. As one was a genocide and the other definitely is not.
MOTORCYCLISTS ARE DYING AT A PRETTY GOOD CLIP And when you read this article you recognize that a LOT of the time it is the motorcyclist's fault. I will say that the lane filtering law has lead to a BUNCH of lane splitting down I-25, which is usually being done by a kid with a tshirt on riding way too fast. If you ride a bike, you need to not ride like an idiot, and if you drive a car, you need to watch out for bikes. Those two things would help a lot.
THE COLORADO CIVIL RIGHTS COMMISSION IS A BUNCH OF DENVERITES/LIBERALS Because there isn't a single Republican on the board because Jared Polis can't find ONE SINGLE REPUBLICAN in the state to appoint since 2019. Weird. Not really, we all know why. This report says the Commission isn't following its own rules, which are so cumbersome that it takes forever to find anyone to meet the idiotic standards changed by the Democratic Legislature. You've got to read it here, but this explains all the garbage decisions this garbage board has made that are being overturned by the Supreme Court. The entire thing needs to be disbanded.
THERE IS MORE TO THE WALGREENS CLOSURES THAN I THOUGHT I said yesterday that the Walgreens closure on Colfax probably had more to do with theft than "reimbursement issues" as the company said, but I may have spoken too soon. ANOTHER WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM FORFEITS RATHER THAN PLAY A MAN And this is what it's going to take for the NCAA to wake up and get its heads out of its butts and fix the issue of grown ass men playing in women's sports. The University of Nevada women's volleyball team announced they had voted to forfeit rather than play against a trans woman player on Sad Diego State's team. They said in their statement to Outkick that they stand in solidarity with players from Southern Utah University, Boise State University, the University of Wyoming, and Utah State University who also forfeited their matches rather than play the man. What should be interesting is the University of Nevada came out and said the match would STILL be played as this didn't match their "position". I'm interested to see how that plays out when none of the players will take the court. We'll see I guess.

McCarthy makes the case very convincingly that the FBI and the intelligence community knowingly lied to help the Biden campaign. This is a national nightmare but because this should never happen. YES, NON CITIZENS WILL VOTE THIS YEAR And this story bring receipts on the number of non citizens who have illegally registered to vote, many of whom will cast a ballot. It's disturbing but not totally surprising when you see how hard the Democrats are working to make sure they can vote this year.
THE BIG UPSIDE OF GLP1 WEIGHT LOSS DRUGS I have big concerns when it comes to GLP1 inhibitors that help people lose weight, but I am VERY impressed with some of the other impacts these drugs are having. My issue is that I already know a LOT of people who have lost weight, only to gain it all back when they stopped taking the drug. That is a very demoralizing thing to have happen. But when you see the list of upsides for other medical issues these could be the lifesavers we need during a time when so many of us are really, really fat. I personally think one of these drugs combined with a plan like SOTA and weightlifting could truly change lives now.
