Just One Thing: Hunter Biden pleads guilty to tax charges
President Joe Biden must have exhaled a huge sigh of relief to learn that his useless son, Hunter, pleaded guilty to multiple federal tax crimes rather than go to trial where the source of Hunter's income was at risk of being exposed to the public. It's a remarkable turn for a DOJ that, in my opinion, corruptly tried to protect Hunter Biden by accepting a plea deal so insane that a judge threw it out. After that, it was all downhill for Hunter who, it seemed to this non-expert, got some VERY bad legal representation by his high-dollar attorneys.

One More Thing: Trump's almost right on corporate taxes
Donald Trump gave a speech at the Economic Club of New York yesterday where he almost got something right. Previously, Trump had proposed simply cutting the corporate income tax rate to 15%. Thursday he modified it so it would only apply to “companies that make their product in America.” Not only is that protectionist modification ill-conceived and unworkable for many companies but what about the vast majority of our GDP that comes from services rather than products? The correct corporate tax rate is zero. Corporations collect tax but don’t really pay it in the sense that corporate taxes come from lower employee compensation, higher prices for customers, lower share prices and dividends for your 401(k). Trump’s not always great on economics but he’s absolutely right on this one.

I was speculating with Paul Mauro yesterday on the difference between the GA school shooter case and the Crumbley case in Michigan. I said that (so far) it didn't appear that the father bought the son (the murderer) a firearm. On Thursday I saw one report -- but only one -- suggesting he in fact had done so but at this writing I think it's more likely that the father bought a gun and didn't keep it stored in a way that the son couldn't access.
