Thurs Blogcast: Go woke, go broke; Economist Mike Munger; Coma thinking

Sound clip for the rest of the presidential campaign

I suspect both sides will use this aggressively...

Vance was speaking in the context of this ridiculous non-story that the media is hoping will stick to Trump even though there's zero evidence that Trump had anything to do with any of it: Trump Campaign Was Warned Not to Take Photos at Arlington Before Altercation, Defense Official Says (usnews.com)

And there will probably be more soundclips like this

I almost feel bad for the guy...there is no good answer for him. And whenever someone in politics says "(s)he has been very clear", you can take that to mean "(s)he is obfuscating and hoping you don't notice." I mean, when even John Berman calls out a Dem for dodging a question you know it's not good for them.

Just One Thing: Go Woke, Go Broke

Fox Business reporter Charlie Gasparino has a great new book out called Go Woke, Go Broke: The Inside Story of the Radicalization of Corporate America. Some businesses are figuring it out. Partly due to pressure from a conservative activist on Twitter named Robby Starbuck, multiple companies are backing away from the nonsense of DEI that’s bad for their employees, shareholders, and probably customers. Just in the past few days, the giant hardware store, Lowe’s, and Ford Motor Company have announced that they’re withdrawing from some nonsense called the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. And in recent weeks, so di Harley-Davidson and Jack Daniels – yes, those iconic tough American brands went woke. I hope they learned the lesson and I hope other businesses do better staying out of politics and culture.

Today's Guests

Mike Munger is the Knower of Important Things, a Professor of Political Science (even though I think of him as more of an economist) at Duke University, and an occasional Libertarian candidate for office in North Carolina. We're going to talk about a few things including: Is there such a thing as "price gouging"? And "is all housing really 'affordable housing'?" And maybe we'll get to this, about the left's dream of imposing a wealth tax on Americans: ULTRAs: The Worst Idea You’ve Never Heard Of | AIER

Trump is doing what he needs to, but that includes reaching out to, let's say unconventional surrogates (others have said "weirdos") like RFK Jr and Tulsi Gabbard and one wonders if those people might turn off “normal” voters. This is an hour long but set the speed to 1.25x or 1.5x and watch it. It's a great take -- one I'm wholly on board with -- regarding a possible "solution" between Israel and the Palestinians from the former Israeli ambassador to the United States.

Wait, what?
