TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT! Donald Trump takes the stage tonight to formally accept the nomination from the GOP. Delegates are ready to hear directly from the man himself after only having seen him at the convention this week. His overall demeanor has been the topic of conversation a LOT this week, as he's appeared grateful, humble, and seemed to be soaking it all in in a way we haven't seen before. No word on the speech as of yet, but I'm guessing it's going to be one of unity and togetherness, not just for the GOP, but for the country.
JD VANCE IS THE NEXT GENERATION And last night, the torch was passed to the Millennials, as Vance took the stage to talk about his life and begin the outreach to swing state voters who may have been left behind by this economy and the policies of Joe Biden. He was relaxed, funny, and very personable, you really should watch the speech here.
One thing I noted this week is that not a single currently office holding old, white dude Republicans appeared. No Lindsay Graham, no Mitch McConnell, none of those Old Guard dudes appeared. Maybe they will speak tonight, but this convention was all about the New Republican Party of Trump and it is much, much different than what those guys represent.
IT'S AMAZING HOW YOU CAN WATCH THE SAME SPEECH AND GET SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT Of course the left media is trying to spin this week's speeches as ominous dog whistles that are evidence of the Great Racism of the GOP. Watch this claptrap.
THE PARTY SWITCH IS ALMOST COMPLETE this week was all about the American worker and regular people. It was a far cry from the days of GOP Corporate shilling for sure. The New York Times has taken notice with this column, which you can read for free and should. In it, the columnist talks about the former party of the people has become the party of educated elites, leaving a large chunk of the former Democrat base feeling left behind. From the column:
we are in the process of a partisan realignment that could prove as significant as the post-1960s consolidation of the ideological political parties that we have now. The Republican Party is clearly becoming the party of the working classes while paradoxically retaining its hold on certain business elites.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party is becoming the party of the educated classes and their cultural agenda. Paradoxically, the Democrats have retained their foothold in minority communities, despite the cultural conservatism of many of these groups.
It's amazing what happens when you take voters and their votes for granted for decades, isn't it? The Republicans need to follow through on those commitments to the people they are courting if they want to continue to grow. We'll see if they can pull it off.
WE'VE BEEN SUPER BUSY ON SOCIAL MEDIA THIS WEEK And if you don't follow us, you may have missed it, so I'm putting it here. Arod is a genius with video!
TONIGHT'S ANTHEM IS GOING TO BE PERFORMED BY THIS LOVELY WOMAN I had the chance to meet and share a meal with Mary Millben, who is going to be performing tonight's National Anthem. She doesn't just sing it, she SINGS it and I promise you it will move you to tears. I had a chance to chat with her yesterday.
