THE LIFE AND TIMES AND RUMORS OF LAUREN BOEBERT I've got Citycast podcast host Bree Davies and producer Paul Karolyi join me today to talk about their new series Lauren Boebert Can't Lose where they dig into all the nasty rumors about the Congresswoman that swirled around her since her fast rise to prominence. Don't assume it is just a slam piece, the first episode is very well researched, you can listen here. The join me at 1 pm to talk about it.
COULD LAUREN LOSE TO IKE MCCORKLE? Ike McCorkle is likely to be the Democratic candidate in the 4th Congressional District and a new Dem poll shows him beating Lauren Boebert by DOUBLE DIGITS. From the Colorado Politics page:
McCorkle, a Marine veteran making his third run for the seat, led Boebert 41% to 27%, with 33% undecided in a hypothetical general election contest, a survey of likely general election voters released Tuesday by McCorkle's campaign found.
The same poll showed former President Donald Trump 10 points ahead of President Joe Biden in the district, which covers Douglas County, Loveland and the Eastern Plains and is the state's most reliably Republican congressional seat.
According to results reviewed by Colorado Politics, Trump had 45% to Biden's 35%, with independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. polling at 6% and 14% of votes undecided. Trump won the district's electorate by an 18.5 percentage point margin in 2020.
There are still a LOT of Undecided voters in this district, so it's not a done deal BUT why put the race in peril by electing someone SO unlikeable? Just a question.
TODAY IS A DAY OF WEIRD NEWS Because there isn't one overarching news story so get ready for a day of oddities.
YES, ISRAEL STRUCK CIVILIANS IN RAFAH But can we be clear that they were shooting BACK at the people who sent rockets into Tel Aviv? I've seen a lot of commentary on how OF COURSE Israel killed civilians, but when the leadership of Hamas is hiding WITH CIVILIANS what exactly are they to do? We've been over this.
OUR GAZA PIER IS BECOMING A LAUGHING STOCK And a very expensive on at that. Look at this Keystone cops bit of nonsense:
One ship was stuck on a beach at the southern end of Ashdod, while another sent to extract it also got beached. The two other vessels were washed up on a beach near the pier, according to CENTCOM, which added the Israeli Navy helped with their recovery and that no one had been injured in the incidents.
But other problems have beset the pier, with Sabrina Singh, deputy Pentagon press secretary, saying last month that bad sea and weather conditions had delayed the delivery of the components for the construction.
Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, the deputy commander of United States Central Command, told reporters last week that deliveries from the pier to warehouses inside Gaza had been initially hindered by a Hamas drone attack on the IDF and some aid trucks were looted en route, CNN reported.
We really seem like we know what we're doing, amiright?
MOUNTAIN TOWNS ARE ABOUT TO BE GRILL FREE Why? Because it's becoming too impossible to get insurance for homeowners associations that allow them. So more and more HOA's are cutting the gas lines and banning gas grills so they can get coverage. Gas grills are apparently very dangerous and insurance companies, who are desperate to get coverage that they can afford, are being forced to acquiesce. Though I love my gas grill, if it made my homeowners insurance company required me to ditch it I would. We are going to see more and more of this as insurance companies are trying to mitigate the damage they can do.
BRANDON MCMANUS IS BEING SUED And this story rings very familiar to me, as I've experienced similar harassment on an international flight with a football team. Two flight attendants say former Broncos kicker Brandon McManus grinded his body against them during a Jacksonville Jaguars flight to London for a game. I wasn't grinded on but I was followed downstairs to the very small galley where I had gone to hide from some aggressive Detroit Lions back in the day. We'll see if they get the million bucks they are asking for.
IT'S TIME TO CHOOSE ON PUBLIC SAFETY And this column on the District Attorney's races around the state is 100% right. It's time to hire DAs who will actually prosecute crimes instead of using some stupid feelings based prosecution. Read this and choose wisely.
CU'S TERRORIST HONORING SCHOLARSHIPS I read an article about the young people who are benefitting from scholarships in CU Boulder. In the article it says the scholarships are in honor of CU Boulder students who were killed by a car bomb. It was light on details but thankfully Jon Caldara writes a column about what REALLY happened and it's not the story you think it is.
DO YOU WANT A BIG STINK? Then go sniff the corpse flower at CU-Boulder that is in full bloom. I'll pass.
BASKETBALL GREAT BILL WALTON HAS DIED And I am a huge fan, so this one hurts. Read about the legend here.
CHUCK NAZTY IS STILL GETTING IT DONE, EVEN AT 37 And I loved this column by Mark Kiszla about how much people love him and will miss him when he's gone.
"FAT, BLACK, AND GETTIN' IT" This guy is a black man trying to get other black folks to go outside and I'm here for it. I think EVERYONE should go outside. Read about him here.
DENVER'S BEST BURGERS I'm just going to say it, I think Brothers burgers are just okay. Don't @ me, they are just okay. That being said, Crown Burger is the legit BEST fast food burger in existence and it's on this list. Where did they miss?
WHAT COLORADO HIGH SCHOOL MAKES THE MOST NFL PLAYERS? This is a list of the high schools that have created the most NFL players from Colorado. We've done pretty well but we're a long way from being Texas or Florida-like when it comes to growing NFL players.
LIBERTARIANS CHOOSE THEIR LOSER FOR THE YEAR And they rejected RFK, Jr. and Trump to nominate party activist Chase Oliver as their candidate for President of the United States. He won't win, but will he pull enough votes to play spoiler?
A LIST OF 20 THINGS THAT WILL BECOME OBSOLETE And some of these I'm thinking aren't the best idea, like house keys. I get the electronic locks, but what if the power goes out? For real? Read them here, but be warned, it's a slideshow, sorry about that.
TRUMP CAN'T EVEN COMPLIMENT SOMEONE WITHOUT IT BEING THE HEADLINE Two young missionaries were killed in Haiti and during a call to the father of the young woman killed he offered effusive condolences but those were overshadowed by ONE comment about how attractive the young couple was. Really? He was talking to the father a young woman who had been murdered, it's fine he talked about how beautiful they were. Stop it, Newsweek, stop it.
SIXTEEN REASONS AMERICANS DON'T TRUST SCIENCE ANYMORE And another slideshow, (I'm so sorry, I hate them too but this is worth is) is highly accurate at least for me. I agreed with almost all of them, but the one they missed it that "science" wants to tell us "the science is settled" right before a new discovery that changes everything. The sciences is never "settled" or it is not science.
THE RISE OF THE "DISINFORMATION" INDUSTRY Speaking of which, watch this.
WE MAY KNOW THE MOLECULAR UNDERPINNINGS OF ALZHEIMER'S Because of a new study that looked at individual cell's electrical activity to find a molecule that seems to make the cells go haywire and send more signals that usual. This is the first step in perhaps moving towards a new treatment for the disease. Remember the "why we don't trust science" from above? This is a great example, because a few years ago science decided that Alzheimer's was caused by plaque buildup and all the money in research went to that theory and it's been shown to be not quite right. Science!
MAYBE RISING TEMPERATURES AREN'T SO BAD AFTER ALL Now scientists are discovering the ways animals are reacting to climate change and it's almost like animals (and humans) are infinitely adaptable or something. Read it here and stop freaking out.
NOTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENS ON MY FLIGHTS A dude ran naked up and down the aisle on an Australian flight that had to be turned around to take him off. The man was arrested and taken to a hospital because he was obviously not right.
DO YOU DREAMSCROLL? I guess I do this with destinations that I'd like to travel to, but apparently Americans spend like two hours a day looking at stuff they can't afford online. This seems high to me but here it is. We shall discuss.
BRAGGING ABOUT BEING BUSY IS BAD NOW Because it makes you look like an idiot apparently. From the article:
The researchers surveyed hundreds of workers and found that stress braggers generated ill will and were less likely to receive help from co-workers when they were legitimately overloaded. Beyond just making themselves look bad, the study published in Personnel Psychology revealed that stress bragging can have a contagious effect, causing those around the bragger to feel more stressed themselves and experience higher levels of burnout. By constantly portraying extreme busyness as the norm, it creates an expectation that everyone should be operating at intense, unsustainable levels.
Yeah, you're just stressing the slackers out!
AMC SLAPS A TRIGGER WARNING ON GOODFELLAS If you never seen Goodfellas you might not realize how funny this is, but it's a movie about gangsters so yes, it's going to be violent. What did the trigger warning say?
“This film includes language and/or cultural stereotypes that are inconsistent with today’s standards of inclusion and tolerance and may offend some viewers,”
Uh, have they never been to Little Italy? These guys still exist.
Y'ALL, UNMESSY SMORES IS A THING And I am so gonna try this. Watch below or click here.
DON'T DO THIS WITH YOUR FIANCE I'm sure she thought this would be funny, but families have LONG memories about such "jokes". Watch below or click here.

LATE ADDITION: CONGRATS TO THE BRIGHTON HIGH SCHOOL TRAP TEAM! I'm not saying they just won the State Championship because I featured them on my show, but they just won the 2024 Colorado State Trap Team Championship!
