OUR BOOK CLUB FOR 1984 IS NOW THURSDAY MAY 30TH AT 2PM So pick up your copy or listen to the audiobook. I've booked a man who has written multiple books on George Orwell to join us for it.
AI IS BEING USED TO PREDICT HEALTH OUTCOMES I saw a story about Severance MacLaughlin of DeLorean Artificial Intelligence and I knew I had to get him on. DAI uses the vast collection of medical records we've all been accumulating our lives and then uses AI to predict negative health outcomes so doctors can order the sort of tests to catch stuff early rather than later. You can read about this here, he joins me at 12:30 to discuss. Find their website here.
MOTHER'S DAY IS SUNDAY, BUT.... Not everyone has a good relationship with their mother. I've got psychiatrist and author Dr. Judith Orloff on the show at 1 to talk about how to manage the day and maybe work on the relationship. She has practical tips on how to heal the broken relationships in our lives. Find out more about Dr. Orloff and check out her book on empathy by clicking here.
GOLFING FUN FOR THE USMC MEMORIAL Paula Sarlls is back to talk about an upcoming golf tournament to benefit the Marine Corp Memorial Foundation. She's on at 2:30 and you can find the details by clicking here. Paula is the woman who jumped out an airplane multiple times on her 75th birthday to raise money so we'll get an update on how that went too!
HOMELESS PEOPLE LOVE HAMAS TOO! OH. MY. GOSH. I said jokingly the other day that if you want to get rid of the encampment at Auraria just tell the homeless people to move in. GUESS WHAT? The homeless people are starting to move in. Now the bosses at the Auraria campus say there are feces (that's fancy for poop) all over the grounds and drug paraphernalia has been seen as well. But even though the pro-Hamas scumbags are planning to have concerts this weekend and charge admission, while freely pooping on the grounds and threatening administrators the "leadership" at the schools is too chicken to ask police to completely sweep the camp so it can be cleaned up immediately. I can't wait to see how this ends but I bet it's badly. Jimmy Sengenberger writes about meeting the "demands" of protesters here.
WHAT GUNS LAWS WERE PASSED THIS SESSION? This is a good conversation about what passed and what did not.
AND NOT ONE OF THOSE BILLS WILL STOP A MASS SHOOTING This is an outstanding column by George Brauchler about the new slew of gun bills that only make legal gun ownership harder and will do NOTHING to stop another mass shooting. He's right, of course.
ROB NATELSON ON THE WEAPONIZATION OF THE LAW I love Rob and this conversation with Jon Caldara is so worth your time.
MAYOR MIKE THINKS MORE MONEY WILL SAVE DOWNTOWN For the record I'm on his side entirely as he tries to fix a really, really challenging issue, and that is no one wants to go downtown right now. It feels unsafe still, mainly because there is no one there. He's now lofting an expansion of the Downtown Development Authority which rejuvenated Union Station to help lift the rest of downtown. It will cost a LOT of money and I don't know if the struggling downtown businesses have any more to give right now. You can read about it here, but is there anything that will make you want to go downtown again? What assurances do you need before you think it's a place you want to be?
THE GOVERNOR HAS CHANGED HIS TUNE ON THE EPA Now that the chickens have come home to roost in the form of reformulated gas being forced upon us because of his earlier inaction. He met with the Denver Gazette Editorial Board (which must be all men since he hates women (or maybe just me)) and said the same EPA he welcomed with open arms is now "horrible". Yes, it is but they were when he INVITED the first downgrade that came back in 2019 when gas was cheap. Read the interview here.
MAYOR MIKE HELD AN ASK ME ALMOST ANYTHING ON REDDIT And I say ask me almost anything because DoBetterDenver, the wildly popular social media account, was BANNED from Reddit for asking a question! Check this out.
And then this happened
Which is why I call it an Ask Me Almost Anything instead. You can read about what he actually said here.
WHEN THE EXPERTS ARE COMPLETELY, UTTERLY WRONG This is a GREAT article on a man from the early 20th century who was hailed as a visionary and a genius for "curing" insanity. How did he do it? By pulling teeth. That's not a metaphor, that's what he did. Of course he didn't cure it, but he established himself as an "expert" and then more experts threw their weight behind him and when he was attacked they circled the wagons around his garbage methods. There are a LOT of lessons to be learned here in our modern era.
DO NOT GO TO MEXICO FOR STEM CELL TREATMENTS My goodness this is disheartening because Regen Rev uses proper medical procedures to do the same thing right here. Three Coloradans have an aggressive form of non-tuberculous mycobacteria, which is difficult to treat, from getting stem cell injections in Mexico. You should just go to Regen Rev instead, trust me.
LITTLETON PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS MAKING CHANGES TO THE BUS CAMERA POLICY But the parents of the little boy mercilessly abused by his bus aide say they don't go far enough. They want the tape saved until someone watches it. Littleton is lengthening the time the tape exists from five days to ten, but these are non-verbal children who are unable to make their complaints known in a timely fashion. I'm not sure what the solution is but I admire these parents for fighting for their son and other kids on these buses.
CHRIS CUOMO HAS SEEN THE LIGHT ON IVERMECTIN This is remarkable. Chris Cuomo, who was a reliable voice for Dr. Fauci and the Covid Government Complex during the pandemic. Watch this with Don Lemon:
Here is the new and improved Chris Cuomo on podcast talking about taking Ivermectin. Joe Rogan, you may remember, took Ivermectin when he had covid and was told he was LIT-RELLY MURDERING PEOPLE by telling people to take it.
This must be what happens when you get out of the left wing bubble that surrounds NBC.
THE WORST COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS IN HISTORY Happened at Ohio State, when an alum gave a speech high on hallucinogenic drugs. You can tell. He led a singalong, talked about Bitcoin and rambled endlessly. You should just skip through the speech below to see what you missed.
BIDEN GIVES HAMAS INCENTIVE TO KEEP HOSTAGES Because right after our bumbling moron of a commander in chief said he would hold up the shipment of weapons unless Israel fought their war the way he demanded, Hamas has come out to reject any deal that would lead to the release of the hostages. Of course they did. They smell the US turning its back in Israel. This President is a nightmare.
RIP TO LONGTIME NEWSMAN RICK SALLINGER Who passed away at home recently. He was a Denver legend to be sure.
GEN Z IS FAILING AT ADULTING This column takes on the Generation called Z and their apparent inability to launch in any way shape or form. It's time for tough love and adulting camp for these overly coddled spoiled adults. Or as we heard in Gen X, get the hell out.

A COLORADO FARMER HAS FOUND LOVE ON TV And I hope it works out for him but when his chosen says she's deeply rooted to her family in Wisconsin that doesn't bode well. When people say they are deeply rooted you should pay attention. Read more here about Farmer Wants a Wife.
THREE COLORADO BBQ JOINTS MADE YELP'S TOP 100 And two of them are my FAVES. I've not had Post Oak Barbeque but I am a huge fan of both Georgia Boys and GQue. Find the whole list here.
PLEASE DON'T TOUCH THE BABIES It is remarkable to me that Colorado Parks and Wildlife has to do this every year but they are reminding people NOT to touch or interfere with baby animals at this time of year. Seeing a baby alone does NOT mean it is abandoned and touching it will make the mother reject it. Just stay away.
COLORADO CRAVINGS: COOPER'S ON THE CREEK EDITION I love this feature in the Denver Gazette because it gives me new places to try around the state and I will be trying Cooper's on the Creek this summer.
HERE'S A BUNCH OF STUFF TO DO THIS WEEKEND if you don't already have plans. My favorite is that farmer's markets are finally back!
PANERA DITCHES IT'S SUPPOSEDLY DEADLY CAFFEINE DRINKS They have pulled the Charged Sips from the menu after two lawsuits say the drinks caused heart attacks and death in two people. Panera didn't say WHY they pulled them, but c'mon man.
IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO IMPROVE YOUR METABOLIC HEALTH IN OLD AGE Another Peter Attia clip about exercise that I hope inspires you!
THE OLD "IS SHE SLEEPING" TEST This never gets old.
