These Safe Injection Sites are NOT what they are telling you. Check out these videos from inside Safe Injection Sites in Vancouver, which have destroyed the surrounding neighborhoods where they are located. They do not reduce overdose deaths as Vancouver's OD rates have skyrocketed. Do not believe them when they say this is a good idea. They are lying.

IT'S TIME TO STOP IGNORING ADDICTION AND MENTAL ILLNESS ON THE COLORADO STREETS This column was written by a man who has lived on the streets in the grips of a mental health emergency so I'm going to give him some credit on knowing what he's talking about. In the column he talks about DoBetterDenver, the social media accounts that are documenting the staggering addicts and raving people having mental health crises to the criticism of some who say such posts are uncompassionate and uncaring. He argues they are the exact opposite and you should read it.

DON'T TRUST DRUGS FROM A MEXICAN PHARMACY Many people are surprised to find out you can buy all sorts of narcotics at Mexican pharmacies and people assume they are legit versions of those narcotics but two Boulder women and one Boulder man found out the worst possible way that is not accurate. The women bought what they thought was oxycodone for a friend and it killed him because the pills were fake and full of fentanyl. The women are lucky they avoided jail time. Read it here.

HAVE BOOKSTORES GONE THE WAY OF THE DODO BIRD? Amazon killed the bookstore and that's a shame. I've always loved walking through a bookstore and discovering things I would have otherwise missed. Tattered Cover is trying to emerge from bankruptcy as a viable business, but can they? Is there still enough of a need for a place where people buy books when so many people are listening to their books now instead of reading them? I hope there is but I'm leaning towards no without significant shifts in how a bookstore operates. If it were to become a hub of the community maybe you could pull this off.

DEMOCRATS ARE TRYING TO COMPLETELY KILL OIL AND GAS IN COLORADO And I am not being hyperbolic. They are working to end ALL oil and gas production in Colorado by ending new permitting entirely. What impact would this have? Read this:
A 2023 study prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found that the oil and gas industry supports more than 300,000 jobs and generates more than $48 billion in Colorado annually—or 11.2% of the state’s total GDP. Colorado ranks as the fifth-largest crude oil-producing and the eighth-largest natural gas-producing state in the country, according to federal government data, with enough exploitable reserves of each to maintain its stature for the foreseeable future. That’s important because federal estimates project that U.S. oil and gas production will continue to grow through 2050, prompted by steady domestic consumption and rising global demand for American hydrocarbons.

CAR THEFTS ARE DOWN, IS IT BECAUSE OF STIFFER PENALTIES? This article asks the question but we still have a huge problem that is outlined here:
“The highest volume of car thefts in our area is from juvenile suspects committing the crimes,” Trainer said. “There is a complete lack of juvenile accountability, and we need to go back to the (state) and collaborate on what to do about it.” Zenzinger agreed that the bill does not include juvenile suspects, limiting how district attorneys can charge young suspects.
“Juvenile crimes are just treated differently,” she said. “They are not part of the same system, which is why they are not included in this bill.” If juveniles are to be held more accountable, Zenzinger said it will have to be brought up by lawmakers next year.
They are stealing cars because they know they can get away with it. I hate to see kids thrown in jail for stealing cars but if they get away with this, what else are they going to be emboldened to do?
CONSTRUCTION DEFECTS REFORM MAY BE HAPPENING As Colorado tries to spur condo development after legislation made it impossible for builders to get insurance to build condos back in 2001. Now there are a few bills moving forward to try to fix the issue by rolling back some of the overly generous litigation rules designed by plaintiffs attorneys. They are working to reduce those insurance costs by changing the number of condo owners who have to sign on to sue, and giving builders options to fix the issue and alternatives to litigation. We'll see if Democrats are completely captured by trial lawyers or if they really care about affordable housing by how they vote.
