THE BORDER ISSUE IS CHANGING POLITICALLY You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw this tweet by our Dear Leader:
I know, right??? The polling for Dems must be gawdawful for this sort of turnaround. You may have missed President Joe Biden, who is the architect of this invasion after he rushed to undo everything The Bad Orange Man put in place at the border, when he said this:
Get that? The border is not completely open BECAUSE OF THE REPUBLICANS. It wasn't the Biden Administration that just got done at the Supreme Court arguing that Texas couldn't put up razor wire to keep illegal immigrants out. Nope...except it was. This is a significant switch as Jared Polis is too savvy a politician we know has further ambitions to go rogue on this one. Expect to see more "what, the border? We ALWAYS wanted that closed" from Democrats in the coming days. Don't let them rewrite history. Here is a column by Vince Bzdek where he quotes Democrats accusing Republicans of not wanting to fix the problem so they can use it to run on in November. Except a bunch of Republicans just went to the border to see for themselves how bad it is and the House already passed HR 2 which would provide meaningful border security so there's that.

THE NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY IS TODAY And this is the last, best chance to slow Donald Trump's roll to the nomination. Check the results throughout the day here, but even if Haley wins New Hampshire, she's widely projected to lose her home state of South Carolina so don't get too excited.
MIKE LYNCH SURVIVES A NO CONFIDENCE VOTE And I want to know if you think his DUI arrest and conviction from 2022 is disqualifying? My issue here is that he didn't disclose it when it happened, and then he jumped into a Congressional race where it was surely going to come out. He has taken responsibility for his DUI so I think he handled it well except for that hiding part. I'd like to see him step down if he's going to run a campaign for the 4th because the GOP can't be distracted for one second in the Legislature. But does this make him unelectable in the 4th? If there weren't many other good candidates I'd probably say no, but there are other candidates with less baggage that I think are better choices this go around. Lynch survived a No Confidence vote JUST BARELY by the other GOP members but there is a chance there will be another vote so he could be ousted anyway.
AN ARMY VETERAN JUMPS INTO CD-5 Joshua Griffin has entered the GOP primary to replace Doug Lamborn. He seems like a really interesting dude but every new candidate makes it easier for David Williams to win so I'm concerned. Read about him here.
BIG MONEY HAS BEEN RAISED TO CODIFY ABORTION INTO OUR CONSTITUTION The pro-life movement in Colorado is hopelessly outmatched in Colorado when it comes to money. Abortion advocates have raised over a million bucks to get abortion codified into our Constitution and I fully expect this to pass. We are a solidly pro-choice state and any money spent trying to change the laws here should immediately be redirected into helping moms who have an unwanted pregnancy keep and raise those children. That is the only way to sway opinion at this point. The only reason that this might fail, and this is a longshot MIGHT, is that it would upend our ban on taxpayer funded abortions. But I still think that's a longshot.
PLEASE TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT SEXTORTION as there have been a lot of Aurora students targeted in a scheme where they were threatened with exposure of naughty photos. Please tell your kids that the only way to ensure this never happens to them is to not send dirty pictures to anyone. Period.
BLACK DEMOCRATS IN CHICAGO ARE SUING OVER MIGRANT HELP I talked about a similar story where Black folks in Chicago were up in arms about the migrant issue there. Now there are several lawsuits that have been brought on behalf of black citizens whose parks and resources are being given to migrants. And these are staunch Democrat voters who are simply fed up. Read this:
J. Darnell Jones is another plaintiff suing the city. He puts his position on immigration bluntly, stating: “They’re giving the migrants all the things we’ve been asking for since we came here in chains.”
Jones, who lives on the South Side of Chicago, is a DEI consultant and proponent of reparations. In 2018, he even ran as a Democrat for a U.S. House seat in Texas. And yet, he can’t help but place the blame on the Democrats for what’s unfolding in his city.
“What the Democratic Party doesn’t want black people to hear is that this is a Biden policy,” says Jones, 52. “Biden is allowing the borders to remain open.”
He is exactly right and this explains why Democrats are all of a sudden demanding border security.

IS THIS THE DEATH OF THE LA TIMES? Probably as we know it, which is fine with me. Facing looming layoffs several editors have quit and the newsroom is in "chaos". This paragraph in the CNN story about it oddly demonstrates why newspapers are in the crapper, along with CNN:
The cuts have come at a horrendous time. As antidemocratic candidates look to seize power in election contests from coast to coast, newsrooms are shrinking and simply trying to stay afloat. That lack of accountability means dishonest figures seeking higher office, and those in positions of power, could avoid crucial scrutiny, leaving the electorate less informed about the vital decisions it will have to make in November at the ballot box.

THIS AS FACEBOOK SAYS NO TO NEWS ON THE SITE This may be the final nail in the coffin of many media outlets who relied on Facebook for traffic to their sites. But then they got greedy and started demanding payment for "allowing" Facebook to use (and link to their sites) so Facebook is just stopping. They say they will not longer pump news on Facebook, partly because people on Facebook are sick of the fighting but mostly because Zuck thinks Facebook just doesn't need it. He's probably right and those news sites have dug their own grave.

Palm Springs passed an ordinance that only 20% of any neighborhood could be used for Short Term Rentals. What happened next is the real estate market in those neighborhoods has collapsed as people won't buy homes they can't rent out when they aren't using them. Read it here.
