DeSantis squeaked out a second place in this one, with late breakers going to him according to exit polls. Hales finishes third and Vivek and distant fourth. Vivek suspended his campaign last night so I'm guessing he will be a full blown surrogate for Trump now. It seems a fait accompli that Trump is the nominee now so let's get this show on the road. JEFFCO PARENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPT OUT OF THE GENDER IDENTITY ROOMING POLICY The feelings of a transgender child are not more important than the feelings of another. Period and full stop. And yet, JeffCo schools has a policy in place that indicates they are elevated above every other student who may not want to share a bed with a child of the opposite biological sex. The Alliance Defending Freedom is asking JeffCo Public Schools to provide an opt out for any overnight trips that simply says:
"Will you submit to this policy which rooms children by gender identity rather than sex?
Then parents can say yes or no. JeffCo Schools has not responded. I'd like them to answer the question why are trans kids emotions and feelings of safety more important than other kids? I'd genuinely like to know.
IN A FLOOD OF ILLEGALS, MAYOR JOHNSTON ASKS FOR A BUCKET Democratic Mayors should be pressing the President to shut the southern border to stop the flow into the country. But they won't, as evidenced in this article about Mayor Mike Johnston heading to DC for the US Conference of Mayors and look at what he's seeking:
In a news release, the mayor's office said Johnston will meet with White House and administration officials, congressional members, and fellow mayors to "pursue solutions that will help manage this crisis, including increased work authorization, a coordinated entry program, and more federal dollars for cities."
Every single one of those things will make this situation much, much worse but here we are. Denverites, I have no sympathy for you when services are cut to pay for a new flood of illegal immigrants because you voted for this.
THIS AS THE INFLUX OF IMMIGRANTS IS BREAKING DENVER HEALTH Denver Health says it has provided more in uncompensated care that it can sustain and the hospital system is in deep financial doo-doo. They don't have enough people with private health insurance to be able to cost shift that care onto private insurers, which is the way hospitals pay for people with no health insurance. I thought Obamacare was going to fix all this? Of course it wasn't, silly. In a recently released study the cost of living for retirees was evaluated to figure out what kind of nest egg you'd need for a 25 year retirement. THE BIGGEST RISK IS THE DIVIDE BETWEEN POLITICIANS AND WORKING PEOPLE This is an insight that should seem obvious but caught me off guard today. The CEO of German insurance giant Allianz said that along with hotspots and conflicts around the world, he sees the divide between the political elite and the working class as a serious threat to stability around the world's democracies. He had this to say:
“You’ve seen recent elections in the Netherlands, you’ve seen it in France, and societies are polarizing because our leaders are not addressing the needs of the people,” he said.
The Allianz Risk Barometer report also noted that populist and far-right political forces expanded their influence with electoral success in the Netherlands and Slovakia, reinforcing the emerging trend that started in 2022, when “Italy elected a party with neo-fascist roots, Hungary re-elected Viktor Orbán, and the far-right Sweden Democrats took over 20% of the votes in a general election.”
“We have an increasing detachment of the political elite from the working class and the people that actually go to work every day, and that, I see as the number one risk for our societies,” Bäte said.
He's not wrong and I think this is why working class people like Trump. He at least seems to care about them and how they are doing.
