SOMETIMES FORGIVENESS IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE And I've got a guest today who can help. Kelly Browne is a gratitude expert and in her new book 101 Ways to Create Mindful Forgiveness: A Heart-Healing Guide to Forgiveness, Apologies, and Mindful Tools for Peace she explains how to apologize, forgive and move on for your own inner peace. Buy the book here and she joins me at 2 today.
WHAT'S ALREADY WORKING TO HELP SCHOOLS? In my ongoing effort to show programs and technology that is already working to protect schools, I've got a CU Professor and Director, Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence Beverly Kingston on the show today at 12:35. Her entire career is spent studying what is working and what it not. We're going to talk to her about the Blueprints for Healthy Youth Development that features research backed programs designed to do a myriad of things, from helping kids stay out of trouble to getting job training and a diploma for dropouts. Find the Blueprints page here, and you'll be surprised at how much help is already available for school districts. She joins me at 12:35 to discuss it.
IF YOU'RE IN DENVER, DO NOT VOTE FOR ANY OF THESE PEOPLE I don't normally come right out and tell you who NOT to vote for but I'm making an exception. The Democratic Socialists of Denver have run a slate of people who will absolutely drive Denver further into the toilet if elected. To be clear, DO NOT VOTE FOR ANY OF THESE PEOPLE. DO NOT. DON'T CHECK THE BOX FOR THEM, DO NOT.
- Lisa Calderón for Mayor
- Tiffany Caudill for City Council District 2
- Tony Pigford for City Council District 4
- Shontel Lewis for City Council District 8
- Candi CdeBaca for City Council District 9
- Shannon Hoffman for City Council District 10
- Sarah Parady for City Council At-Large
Write in my name before you vote for them. DO. NOT. DO. IT.
SO WHO TO VOTE FOR IN DENVER INSTEAD? Literally anyone would be better than the people above. If I lived in Denver, I'd vote for Andy Rougeot for Mayor and whoever was running against the people above for Council. You really need to vote, even if you think everyone is a screaming lefty because some screaming lefty's are WAY WAY worse than others. Hold your nose and do it.
OH, AND THE DSA SLATE IS CHEATING REALLY, REALLY BAD And when I say "cheating" I mean breaking the law. A website popped up at some point, I saw it last week, that outlines how the candidates running on the horrid slate above have been coordinating with Independent Expenditure organizations on messaging and taking work by those IEs which is a clear violation of the law. They are coordinating and provide work, work products, and volunteers to work on the campaigns with them. You should listen to the audio of a secretly recorded meeting where you really get a feel for how these people feel about the rest of the candidates and us. Although when they name checked Tay Anderson to make fun of him I'm cool with that. Find it all on these pages, but know this, they don't care about the rules, they just care about power.
TRUMP IS THE SECOND GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TO BE CHARGED BY A POLITICALLY MOTIVATED DA I had forgotten completely about this because former Texas Governor Rick Perry screwed up so badly in a debate that I thought that sunk his candidacy, but no, this story reminds us that a liberal DA in Austin did a political payback favor by filing charges that were later dismissed. It went like this:
As for the charges against Perry, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals eventually dismissed the charges against Perry in a 6-2 ruling. The abuse of official capacity charge was dismissed on the grounds that it violated the separation of powers in the state constitution. It was always the case that Perry had wide latitude and authority to issue a veto in this instance. “The governor’s power to exercise a veto may not be circumscribed by the Legislature, by the courts, or by district attorneys,” noted the ruling by Judge Sharon Keller of the Court of Criminal Appeals.
The second charge, coercion of a public official, was dismissed on the grounds that it was a violation of the First Amendment to say the governor could not threaten to lawfully wield power on the grounds he was intimidating other public officials.
We should make note that it worked on Rick Perry. Trump, we'll just wait and see.
DOES BUD LIGHT EVEN KNOW WHO DRINKS THEIR BEER? I saw this yesterday and I won't be the only one to see it dammit.
What is this nonsense? Who wants to see a man acting like a little girl in a bathtub opening a beer he doesn't even drink? What the actual hell, Bud Light. The demo for Bud Light is overwhelmingly men between the ages of 21 and 44. My guess is this will be a boon for other light beers. What a stupid promotion.
NOW A MEME IS WORTH TEN YEARS IN PRISON At least according to an Obama appointee judge who decided that a meme telling people to vote for Hillary by text was a campaign interference event. She's clearly an idiot (the judge) and this WILL be overturned on appeal as a clear free speech issue, but read about it here because the dude who did it is facing ten years in prison. By the way, the woman who created a tweet telling Trump voters to vote by text has not been charged. So weird. Maybe Hillary voters are just dumber than Trump voters?
THAT CHINESE SPY BALLOON DID LOTS OF SPYING Remember when we were told by the Biden administration that the Chinese spy balloon which they let wind across the country before shooting it down over the Atlantic was "blocked" from gathering up any real useful data. Seems Biden was either lying or a stooge, as it most certainly did spy over many of our military sites. From NBC News:
China was able to control the balloon so it could make multiple passes over some of the sites (at times flying figure eight formations) and transmit the information it collected back to Beijing in real time, the three officials said. The intelligence China collected was mostly from electronic signals, which can be picked up from weapons systems or include communications from base personnel, rather than images, the officials said. The three officials said China could have gathered much more intelligence from sensitive sites if not for the administration’s efforts to move around potential targets and obscure the balloon’s ability to pick up their electronic signals by stopping them from broadcasting or emitting signals.
A real President would have shot it down immediately. Just saying.
TWITTER HAS ONLY REMOVED ONE BLUE CHECK SO FAR And it was the New York Times. This is pretty hilarious and enjoyable because I agree with Elon Musk that the NY Times is virtually Pravda for the Democratic Party at this point. It's very sad, actually.
ANOTHER REASON NON COMPETES MUST GO They are used as a chain to keep employees from bolting to another company for a better opportunity. As long as a media company can fire someone at will with no good reason, there should be NO expectation that they will not be allowed to work for the competition. These are horrible and have kept salaries down in media for DECADES. I hope the FTC does away with them. Media companies like to say they invest a lot of money promoting talent and that USED to be true but it most certainly not true anymore.
EVEN RICH PEOPLE ARE PULLING BACK ON VACATION SPENDING With most of them saying their limit for hotel rooms is $500 bucks a night. I think this is the most interesting line in this article:
This may be a reflection of diminishing consumer confidence or complaints that inflated pricing hasn’t been accompanied by a proportionate increase in service quality.
We don't often stay in super fancy hotels (except for the Mandy Connell Adventures which are always in super nice hotels) but I can tell you the service has slipped at MANY properties. Whether it's the free breakfast that isn't properly stocked or a messy dining area, or housekeeping only upon request, hotel chains are using the "no one wants to work" line as an excuse and that seems to be seeping up the higher price hotels as well.
GUY USES AIR TAG TO FIND HIS STOLEN CAR And then he tracks it down and shoots the guy who stole it. No word on if the owner will be charged yet, but using an Apple Air tag is how my friend Jimmie found his work trailer after it had been stolen THE SECOND TIME from his Denver shop. In his case, luckily the thief took it to Douglas County where the cops actually had time to track down the bad guy.

ACTORS WHO PLAY TEENS AND WHAT THEY REALLY LOOKED LIKE AS TEENS This is interesting, but can we all agree that Travolta playing a 17 year old with a five o'clock shadow was absurd?
PEOPLE WHO LIVE A REALLY LONG TIME HAVE SPECIAL IMMUNE SYSTEMS And I'm talking people who live to 100 or more. A recent study showed that centegenerians have a feature of their immune system that seems to show it is very strong and not susceptible to the aging process like the rest of us are. Scientists don't know why or how, but they at least identified that.
