I saw a very interesting article about Denver looking into converting unused or underused office buildings into apartments and condos. I love the idea but I'm sure there are LOTS of aspects to the path forward that I don't understand and lots of hurdles before these can be successfully done even once, much less 3 or 4 or 5 times.
We'll talk about it with Jenny Buddenborg, the Adaptive Reuse Senior Development Project Administrator for the City and County of Denver

Much like the US in the past election or two, Brazil has two bad choices: Current president Jair Bolsonaro, sort of a "Trump of the Tropics" but even crazier and more flamboyant, and former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (nickname "Lula") who is a favorite of our very own socialist Bernie Sanders because their views are so similar. Lula was convicted of corruption, but a court later overturned the sentence even though it was likely correct.
On Sunday, neither candidate got 50% of the vote, with Lula receiving about 48% to about 43% for Bolsonaro, so there will be a runoff on October 30th.
There's a fair bit about the scenario that feels like the US, including that while Lula finished ahead he didn't finish ahead by nearly as much as polls had predicted. And also, members of Bolsonaro's political party did well in local elections, often outperforming Bolsonaro himself, much as Republicans did in 2020 as Trump was losing the presidential election.

The 5th largest country in the world by area and 7th by population, one wants to say that such a country deserves better choices. But, first, people do tend to get the governments they deserve and, second, it seems like bad choices are infecting politics globally.

Which states should go early in the presidential primary process for the Democratic Party in 2024? These are interesting and important questions, and I think they're right in their apparent belief that, especially for the Dems, starting with Iowa and New Hampshire doesn't make a lot of sense.

When I saw the trailer for this film, I didn't catch the movie's name but I did catch enough to know I had no interest in it. I don't project myself as being the representation of the public; after all, many people seem to like mustard on their hotdogs, which I just don't understand, but still I'm not surprised 1) that the critics liked the film and 2) that the public isn't particularly interested.
Conservative movie critic Christian Toto gives "Bros" a fairly positive review (while noting that it didn't do well in its opening weekend): 'Bros' Bombs at Box Office - Hollywood in Toto
This tweet by leftist tool Billy Eichner shows part of the problem. Based solely on the trailer, I had a sense that the movie was not just pro-gay but anti-straight; those are quite different things. Per Eichner, who wrote, produced, and acted in the film, if you don't see it, you're homophobic. Ummm...no.

Having played with color-changing chemicals in my chemistry set when I was a kid (do those even exist anymore?), it's hard for me to think that a color-changing vodka is high on my list of things to put in my body even though I realize that the particular chemicals are likely harmless (or they wouldn't be allowed in something that people drink, right?)
